Post subject:  Scarlett redux (for my dioverse)

Based on the feedback I got in the latest installment of my dio last week, I got the sense folks weren't thrilled with my current placeholder version of Scarlett (that's putting it mildly, actually...I think several people actually threw up on their keyboards when they saw her).

I completely understand and, as I mentioned in a response to one of those concerned about Ms. O'Hara's appearance, it was a transitional thing. Even as she was grossing folks out, I had this "ultimate" version of the character in the works.

I spent my hungover New Year's Day putting the finishing touches on her.

This is the way Scarlett will look when she returns to my Joeverse in the not-too-distant future.

What do you guys think of the look?

Well, Spin, I didn't complain about her (really I didn't see what all of the hulla-baloo was about), but THIS Scarlett is gorgeous and hands down better than the placeholder one. I'm looking forward to her return. Great job! Got a recipe for her?

Yup. I didn't see what the big deal was about the last one, but this one sure is nice. Did have one question though... Why do some of your figures only have one microman hand & the other standard?

Man, this is great and I cannot wait to see said figure in the next chapter of Hide and Seek.

I guess I really can't find much if anything at fault with this figure but it just looks damn cool. I still love what you do with your custom's hands.

By the way? How chip proof are your customs and if you don't mind me asking what painting techniques do you use? (I'm working on finding what I consider to be the perfect painting technique)

Wow! She's great! And look at those hands. I always liked that mold, and the head seems to fit perfectly.

Looks great and really clean! Took me awhile to figureout her boots, RAH? Anyways she is an excellent custom and I didn`t get to seeyour old one so I have nothing to compare her to. Looks better than the 25th figure that`s for sure! ;-)

Not sue how bad the first one was, but this one is fantastic. It even integrates the MM hands pretty well.

Smooth execution! Are those RAH mold legs you used, and forearms to?! If so, you've really done a great job blending them together. The color choice is also pretty good; you made a microwoman version like this, didn't you?

Wow, guys! Thanks for all the kind words.

As Tanstoys pointed out, it's been a while since I submitted a custom (been busy dio storying), so it's great to come back with something so many folks dig.

Now to answer some questions...

I do. The torso, crotch and thighs are from a single-pack VvV Scarlett (one thigh modded with a knife sheath pulled off a GvC Gung Ho). The arms are mostly from the VvV single-pack Baroness, though they needed modding at the shoulder to fit the torso and extensive modding at the wrists to accomodate the gauntlets and the microman hands. Aforementioned gauntlets were cannibalized from a ARAH comic-pack Scarlett, along with the lower legs (modded to fit the thighs and adapted with kneepads off the VvV Scarlett) and the noggin (which also needed modding to fit the torso).

She weren't easy, but if she were I don't suppose I'd respect her as much. ;)

Well, the trick to adapting wrists for Micro hands is trying to hide the seam. Gloved hands work best for this, or characters with long sleeves. The ones with the bare wrists, though, are tougher. I usually just adapt the one wrist -- the one wearing the watch -- to hide the seam on those guys.

I don't know if it's perfect, but I get pretty good results with just one coat of Krylon Fusion (flat camo black and tan in this case) on the harder plastic of the torso, crotch and thighs. The softer plastics are more of a bear, requiring multiple coats of extreme thinness with prolonged druing time between to get adequate coverage without tackiness. That's why I looked for arms that matched one of the colors I had available (why I went with black instead of green for her unitard). Still had to use the protracted method on the gauntlets and boots, though. I'd say the finished product is about 98% chip proof.

By now you know the answer to the first part is "yep." And, yeah, the color scheme is pretty close on this one to my Microlady Scarlett. Both the gray and the tan on that figure are lighter, though. I kind of dig this one more as it has more of a black ops feel.

As for when this little lady will be appearing in my dioverse, it won't be in Hide and Seek because, as folks who've read that know...

So she won't be around for a while. But, when she comes back, she'll be ready to kick some butt.

Thanks again for looking, guys, and for taking the time to comment.

Duh...I forgot all about that of course she won't be in the next chapter...been busy trying to start up my own little dios though I gotta say that your stories made me decide to give it a whirl.
