Post subject:  Sky Lynx or Ultra Magnus?
So this idea has been kicking around in my head for a while. I had the blue RHINO and was trying to figure out what to do with it. Blue doesn't fit the Joes, so I made it a SHIELD vehicle, but then that never seemed to fit, either. Then inspiration struck.

Some of you might remember that I turned a lot of Joe vehicles/1:18 diecast cars into (non-transforming) Transformers several years back:

So I figured: why not a Sky Lynx-y type of rig?

But then I remembered that Sky Lynx as a character sucks, even with the cool combiner concept. And with the colors & bulk, I figured he's better as Ultra Magnus. Especially since I don't want another giant-ass truck to deal with. And UM has 2 modes, anyway - one mostly all-white and then one with all the car carrier crap added on, so it's not too far a stretch.

And given my Optimus ROCC, it made all the sense in the world.

I think you made the right call. That just says "Ultra Magnus" to me more than "Sky Lynx". Sky Lynx needs to be mainly an aircraft with the ground craft being sort of an afterthought. But I can dig UM's cab mode being a small helicopter and your colors are just spot on. Great job! Now you need to do an AWE Striker Beachcomber, since Hasbro dropped the ball with the transforming one they made and gave us yet another Bumblebee instead of the Autobot who was already a dune buggy.

As someone who recently watched the entire G1 Transformers cartoon for the first time after having never seen anything more than brief clips, I am fairly confident that works for Ultra Magnus wayyyy more than Sky Lynx.

I'm not enough of a TF fan to know who Sky Lynx is without looking up the character.

The UM colors look appropriate here, and gives the entire design some oomph that it somehow didn't have before.

I agree that it's a better UM then a SL.

That said, the paint apps are amazing. Super clean.

I actually considered Springer as well for that very reason, but part of my whole "Transformers 'verse" is that I try to make robot "avatar" customs for each vehicle I make, and Ultra Magnus was one I wanted to add to the team, so this gave me an excuse to whip one up with minimal effort :-P

Appreciate the kind words, guys - this was/is a lot of fun - especially given that I haven't really "finished" a custom in forever.
