Post subject:  Serpens Magnus
I decided my first custom in 3 years or so would be the last WIP I was working on when life got in the way for a while. I wanted this to look factory so I stayed away from drybrushing. (I quickly remembered red paint sucks and I used to do a base coat of off white for red paint) It also seems that in the last 3 years my up close vision has lost some sharpness. I don’t remember struggling to see to paint the tiny details. Anywho…

This is Serpens Magnus. I imagine him as an ancestor of Big Boa. This cat never lost in the coliseum and eventually became lanista of a familia gladiatorium. His trainees went on to great success and fame. He may also have fathered a Roman Emperor, but that’s possibly just a rumor based on him heavily carousing with patrician women at parties where he was displayed as an attraction of sorts.

And it feels pretty good to create something again. Always fun to let the imagination get some exercise.

Oh, man - that's awesome. I was just digging through my HACKS custom bin last night and was looking at upgrading some of them.

What did you use for the armor bits? For some reason I don't recognize the chest piece or shoulder armor.

Oh yeah I forgot about that part. And I don’t know what’s going on with the duplicate pics if anyone else is seeing that. I only loaded 4 pics

So the shoulder pieces are from a halo figure and the chest piece is from the Mask GI Joe figure 25th anniversary crossover guy. With a little bit of fodder added to the chest to hide an ugly bit leftover from cutting it up a little.

my first thought was

i really like the helmet with roman flare. there is a lot of cool bits that look more future than the ancient past too. kind of a steampunk future gladiator vibe. running man maybe.what i like the least is the 3 tier skirt. it kind of looks more cheerleaderish. great colors and paint too.

Ha ha. Yeah, running man works. He’s quite flamboyant and really puts on a show
