So I'm working on paring down my collection. I'll be selling off pieces that just don't fit my collecting style anymore, pieces I don't have room for, and pieces I just shouldn't have bought in the first place. To make it less of a task and more enjoyable, as I sort stuff out, I'm also setting up displays on newly freed up shelving. Today I worked on my Mega Construx GI Joe/Transformers display and my Mega Construx MOTU display. I love the Mega Construx scale figures because they look great with Masterpiece Transformers (or in my case, Masterpiece and other figures that I think scale well with Masterpiece). Some TFs, such as the semis, tanks, and jets may be a bit small but they're close enough for me. Here's my MC Joe/TF display (I don't have all my customs in it because some don't fit this display): Soundwave gathers intel from Buzzsaw as Shockwave looks on. Shockwave does not understand why Megatron is putting up with this human, Cobra Commander, and his people. "This so-called Terror Dome is a laughable attempt at posturing, at best", he thinks. ![]() Meanwhile, Dr. Mindbender and Crystal Ball toil away in Mindbender's lab, working on the Commander's latest scheme. They're both unaware of Megatron's spy, Rat-Bat, lurking above them in the corner of the lab. ![]() The Crimson Twins discuss their concerns over the Commander's increasingly erratic behavior, and even worse, waste of funds: ![]() The combined forces of Cobra and the Decepticons go on the offensive to crush the Joes and Autobots: ![]() The Joe's won't give up without a fight. The heavy-hitters group together to combine their attack on the advancing Decepticons. A BAT that made it past the Joe's defenses gets a warm reception from Blowtorch. ![]() ![]() Blaster confers with Mainframe and Breaker at the Outpost Defender, while behind them, Hawk briefs Scarlet and Flint on a secret mission he has for them. ![]() Grand Slam was an early casualty, but Stretcher, Doc, and Lifeline work tirelessly to save their comrade: ![]() Footloose takes a vantage point on Ultra Magnus' cab, while Sneak Peek acts as Lowlight's spotter. In the background, Barbecue can be seen overlooking the situation, ready to leap into action if he's needed. ![]() Gung-Ho and Rock N Roll lay down some suppressive fire for Optimus Prime as he confronts Megatron. ![]() Lady Jaye charges in while Covergirl prepares to fire a salvo from her Wolverine: ![]() Grimlock takes on Razorclaw while Cobra Commander oversees everything in the background. ![]() |

And now the MOTU setup: An overview pic: ![]() Two-Bad pilots the Spydor toward Point Dread and the Talon Fighter while Tri-Klops and Destroyer clear a path in their Rotons. Mekanek, driving a Battle Ram, and the Shield Maiden in her Attack Track rush to stop them. ![]() With a view of the background, Zodak can be seen defending Point Dread from Trap-Jaw and Scareglow, while one of Stratos' warriors battles a wildling. ![]() Tiamat, avatar of the sea, battles against Neptune, the demon of the depths. ![]() Mossman tries to clear the air with Stinkor ![]() Beast-Man battles against the leader of the jungle tribe that banished him ![]() Man-E-Faces battles an ice golem summoned by a wild witch ![]() ![]() |

Thanks, guys. This sort of stuff has been the desire of my collecting since I started, even as a kid. I'm glad to finally get to start setting some of it up. |

Good God man! That is pure toy passion in picture form. That's inspirational. I noticed your Roadblock. Have you considered purchasing the new Agent Locke mega figure ? You might like the parts on it. My near future goal is to have a 3d printed diorama. I've designed the core of it but every damn adult life interruption you can imagine has gotten in the way recently lol. *THIS* is the hobby! And as someone else said.. This is the way. |

Thanks! I'm hoping to do more to it soon. I really need to make some Cobra forces to battle; right now, they're kind of puny. I haven't seen a Locke to get but he would make a good RB base. I may have to get him and I'm holding out for a Clamp Champ to be released for a torso and arms. I've been trying to do one version of each character and leave it at that, but I've already redone my Rock 'n Roll a couple times, have completely redesigned (and printed, using only a MC head) Deep Six, plan on upgrading Gung Ho, and have a couple others I'll be redoing, so I guess I can add Roadblock to the list, lol. I'm hoping to 3D print some scenery to go with the displays and I'm really hoping to replace the brick-build vehicles and playsets with 3D printed versions (if you haven't already, checkout Jabberwock's stuff on Thingiverse - simply incredible. He hasn't updated in a while, but he has a ton of good things out there). I'm working on modifying his designs to make them function, instead of just be 28mm models like he designed for. And... I've got a couple others I'm working on to really be show-stoppers, if I can get time to finish them. I see my collecting as being along the lines of what the model train hobbyists do, just without the trains. I want to build worlds with my figures and setups. |

I know you've already seen them but a reminder just in case you haven't thought about them recently - the cobra blue KO call of duty swat sets on aliexpress make nice cobra figures in this scale. I'm holding out for a Clamp Champ as well (or , at this rate , Sun Man) but i've caved and bought Locke to hold me over since i'm not buying much these days. I'm just not sure Mattel will release CC or Sun Man in Mega form in the next two years if at all. Lockes parts are fine for now for custom work. I have some of Jabberwocks models. I've got a soft spot for his Snow Cat. At some point i'll mod them but my self designed RC tank kind of spoiled me so now i want to make all ground vehicle models to be RC lol. The problem is the tank was designed for Diaclone scale figures. A mega scale rc ......would be an entirely different challenge. That Firebat though ![]() At the moment i'm just going where the mood takes me with each scale. At the moment Mega Construx scale has me focused on wrestlers. A decade ago (?) i owned a bunch of WWE Micro Aggression figures. I was really surprised at how much i enjoyed them despite the limited articulation. I'd like to recreate that happiness with Mega wrestlers. I look forward to seeing what else you create. I can use more inspiration. |
