Many years ago, in a challenge here or TNI, I created this subteam as an update to the original Adventure Team using existing characters from the ARAH line using new sculpt parts. They have really looked dated lately so I took the opportunity to update the entire team with modern figures.

The Adventure Team travels the world as a non-military research group with GI Joe's backing. They investigate artifacts and historical mysteries while secretly tracking the movements of various dastardly groups. Somehow they always cross paths with Cobra, The Red Shadows, MARS, or even the Killington Expedition. Although they travel as non-military, The Adventure Team is always prepared to fight where ever and when ever there is trouble.

The team is lead by Joseph Colton, the original GI Joe. Retirement never suited the man and he was eager to return to the field. Hawk launched the idea of the team to General Colton and gave him full control over who joined him.

My original Colton was based on the TRU six pack that used the Wild Bill mold with a Stalker head. I really liked the green uniform and burgundy beret so used that as the teams palette. This time I left off the striping and went with a more dress look for Colton. Its all Marauder parts with a 21st Century head. I really like the angry look on the face and I think it gives Colton a bit more personality as a grizzled vet.

Tollbooth is Colton's second in command. The combat engineer can read a backwoods trail to get their vehicles in to any place needed. And if he can find a way in, he knows a way out. He's the lead driver for the MSV, Mobile Support Vehicle, and default field mechanic as well.
Image

Tollbooth is a guy I feel gets overlooked by many. Having someone available that can read the land and find a way to maneuver heavy vehicles seemed really important for this teams purpose. My original custom was an attempt to keep his blue collar worker look. I continued that with my new version and started with a ParaViper of all things. Swapped the arms and legs, 21st Century head, and I had the base figure. Modded a movie vest to open in the front and hollowed out a Chap Mei hard hat.

Retirement wasn't so good for Bazooka either. Taking a job as night security was a bore and he needed to get back to what he loved. He somehow passed the GI Joe physical exam and agility testing. Stalker worked with him to get him back to his former fit self but no matter how hard he tried Bazooka never budged from his new size. Alpine spoke to Colton about bringing Bazooka on the team to give him focus. Colton agreed, Bazooka would be good muscle to have around when his weapons aren't needed. Given the title of weapons expert, Bazooka gets a lot more action than originally intended but he has never let the team down and earned Colton's respect.

Image

Bazooka never received a good new sculpt figure and I set out to remedy that with my first version. Bazooka is one figure that I feel can never stray far from that V1 look so i kept the jersey but gave him the Battle Corps boonie hat instead of a helmet.

For my update I started with a Bazooka figure but swapped in some Frankensteined Chap Mei construction worker lower legs because I really dig those boots. I sculpted in a gut because of this picture from the relaunch of the comic.Image

Gut-zooka really stuck with me so I set out to make him a real big strong fellow. I robbed the Rook head from my original rhat I sculpted a stache on and painted it all up. I would like to add some starps to the back pack and I have a new Marauder boonie hat on order that fits the head a little better.

Dial-Tone is no stranger to special assignments in GI Joe. Picked by Colton as the team's communication specialist, Dial-Tone can be counted on to maintain contact with GI Joe or gain access into encrypted systems. He may have cut his teeth with ham radios and bulky field radios but Dial-Tone is always learning and is just as comfortable with modern digital technology. Also as a man that is calm and cool over the airwaves, he knows how to break the ice in sticky situations with a smooth conversation. Colton lets Dial-Tone do the talking when his gruff, military tone doesn't work.

Image

Every team needs a communication tech. Dial-Tone was a favorite of mine as a kid just because of the back pack. Its dated tech now and I'm not sure he'll ever need that kind of equipment. My original custom used the DTC Footloose mold as a base with a Stalker head. A bit undersized overall and my least favorite of the group actually. I wanted my new version to have a more civilian look. I started with a Shockwave base and sculpted a collar for the sweater. A simple leg swap and the head is the movie Hawk with an added mustache.

Janie Colton is the daughter of Joe Colton. Codenamed Nightingale serves as the team's medic. A trained nurse like her mother, Janie instead focused on emergency medicine and took her practice into the field. Her name may have earned her a spot with GI Joe but she has proven herself worthy. Now traveling the world with her father, she's making up for lost time with him while patching the team up as needed.

Image
Image

Nightingale is based on the GI Jane from the TRU 6 pack. Although the original got a new head, I thought she favored Bombstrike too closely. Grabbed the Jurrasic World figure for fodder and ended up just doing a repaint with no mods. I even left the jacket and arms unpainted since I liked the yellow as a callback to the original Adventure Team.

Personally, I think the NS figures are good as is, but I understand the drive to interpret them in new formats.

Nice work on all of them!

I've always been proud if them but as my display evolves they don't fit in as well anymore.

Alpine is the lead in the field for the team.

Image
Image

My original Alpine custom was more rock climber than mountaineer. For this one, I tried to get back closer to his original look. The head is Bazooka with a hat from Cassian Andor on an Airborne body. 21st XD arms with a VvV Gung-Ho vest.

Scoop is the final reveal.

Scoop travels with the team to document findings, officially. Unofficially, he has a way of gaining trust and people confide in him their secrets.

I had trouble with my original custom and I struggled with this one as well. I ended up going with a more youthful look and the Han Solo head worked great. From there, I went with a non-military look.

I pieced the video camera together from the Chap Mei reel to reel camera, a Chap Mei spotlight, and a random rifle scope for the eyepiece. I wanted a more modern camera and I couldn't find anything. The backpack is PTE and VvV Tunnel Rat pack stuck together. The handheld is a 3d print file I found on thingiverse.

alpine is almost a match, just different gear. your updates arms just aren't as bulky, swap those on either and you have a interchangeable set.

scoop is my favorite! i like all the tech. and you did a great job on his camera. he looks like the pics of bossfight flash! i had that head out today debating on a unmasked head for the rocketeer i'm making.
