#74 Cobra Corrosion From 2017, this is Cobra Corrosion. The figure came from the GI Joe Collectors' Club and was based on Brazil's Corrosao figure, on which this artwork is also based.

the thicker outline gives him a whole other artistic style. did you try a black background? it looks like he is emerging from darkness, maybe through some sort of thermal device. |

I really enjoy your character choices. I love this guy. |

Thanks. A black background would take away from the thick black lines, but I'll mock on up when I get back to photoshop next. As far as the character choices, I go from year to year (each character's year of initial introduction), plus categories for Marvel, Sunbow, DIC, and Devil's Due. I try to flip from Joe to Cobra from week to week, although there have already been one lazy time when a recolor was put out following its first use as another character. And also from different specialties from one week to the next. |

It feels different from the others you've done. While I understand the artistic need to do things different, try different techniques/styles, etc, etc, it seems completely different from the rest of them. It's like being used to Herb Trimpe style and then seeing the artwork from the last Transformers vs GIJOE comic. The contrast/juxtapostion is jarring. The above, I freely acknowledge, is IMHO... |

You're right. It doesn't really group with most of my other pieces so far. To be fair, my Iguanus artwork was also pretty horrible, but that's because I just pushed through to knock it out. On many of the these, the original artwork is 11" x 17", using permanent markers or brush pens for heavy lines, and using thin pens for finer lines. If I drop down to a smaller size, usually under 8.5" x 11", I just stick with thin pens for all of the inking. On Corrosion, I worked in a smaller scale, but stuck with thicker pen lines for almost all of the artwork. This is what makes the lines look soooo thick and sticky. Trying new things doesn't always work out well. I'm not happy with this one, but I'm trying to keep up my self-imposed one-a-week deadline. Aside from January of this year, which was unavoidable, I've been able to stick with it. Every so often a clunky one will slide into the mix. I appreciate the input. When I get around to Dee Jay I'll have to add in a re-color as Cobra Corrosion, as it's the same figure model. |

i like that better. the bigger strokes give it a "black light poster" look to me, and with the black background he looks like he is coming out of the page/screen. |
