| Post subject: | Captain America: Re-envisioned |
I recently started working on a re-envisioned design for Captain America. I love how his Ulitmate Marvel Legends figure looked with the leather gloves and boots. I also loved the way he was done in the beginning of the Ultimate Avengers, decked out in goggles and a helmet. I wanted to try to make the character a little more realistic, giving his design elements a function as well. I chose to element the chain male, opting for a military flak jacket instead. Chad gave me the idea to use pouches to simulate his red and white stripes. I gave him pockets on his pants to simulate BDUs and gave him a helmet and goggles instead of his prototypical mask. The biggest question mark I had was with the head. I couldn't decide if I should leave the entire face open or not, but I left it the way it is in the end to give him a different look. Captain America: Re-envisioned ![]() ![]() Let me know what you think. |

All of the gear ties together very nicely. Rotating red and white on the pouches is pretty damned smart looking. I'd say put some more "mask" around the edges of his face. Maybe under his eyes, too. Even if you leave it as is, it looks great. |

I like the re-invisioning a lot. Kudos to Chad for the torso striping idea with the pouches. That looks really sharp. Those shoudlers seem really pronounced here. The thick legs and body armor only make them look weirder and not flow as well. I'd try to find some SHS arms or maybe cut the torso side of the shoulder joint so the shoulders sit closer to the body. |

The concept is really cool. Though I can't get past that he's too cartoon looking. The pouches are a great idea (I did the same thing on my Punisher custom, way back when.) |

Yeah, he'd definately still have the mask under the helmet and goggles, imho. And yeah, them K-Man shoulders can look funky real easily. I'd recommend trying to bridge across the gap with some fabric like I did for my GrendelPrime fig. I cut some fabric out of a 1/8th yard swatch I bought at WalMart (or Hobby Lobby, one of 'em) for like 50 cents, soaked in FrayCheck (altho watered-down Elmer's glue works just as well), then simply glued it in place with the seam along the spine. I think it does wonders for the continuity of the figure's silhouette. Attachment: GP.JPG Other than that stuff, this is definately a good direction to be heading down, man. |

I love everything but the base figure. The shoulders and knees are way ugly. The design and revisioning work GREAT though! I'd love to see this same design applied to a different base. |

I'd love to see this same design applied to a different base. I really wanted a different base, but I couldn't find anything that would work for the size I wanted. RAH figures were just too small. A Major Barrage would have been perfect, but I don't even have one in my collection, much less to make a custom from. As for the shoulders, I still have pieces of the flak vest that I cut apart, so I may see what I can do with it. The funny thing is is that the shoulder's don't look as funky in person. Thanks for all the comments guys. |

the idea is good and I like the chest area but the base figure I don't like either. I really dislike the microman and figures that are made like them... |

Here is something quick I did in Photoshop to see how much needed to be added to fix the shoulders. What does everyone think? Attachment: cap2b-redo.jpg [ 60.74 KiB | Viewed 1484 times ] |

Does look better. Though still something cartoonish about him. |

Yep, that definitely works better for the shoulders. The overall look is excellent. Love the way you have done the pouches, and the head is just perfect. One suggestion, if I may: Have you thought about extending the legs a little above the boots? The legs look a bit short to me, but it might be just the picture. |

The legs look a bit short to me, but it might be just the picture. The legs do look a little short. Some of it has to do with the pic, and I think the lower placement of the belt makes everything seem shorter. If the belt wasn't there it would give the look of longer legs. Kinda when a short girl wears low rise jeans, her legs will seem much shorter than they really are. Even though this is the case, I may have to play around with the legs a little and add a tad of length just for good measure.. |

Your photochop looks 1000 times better. That is a way easier fix then what I suggested too. |
