A character I have been thinking about doing for some time. Sliced the hat off Hi-Tech, scalped Wild Bill and merged the two together.
Bio:
Vance Wingfield was recruited during the early days of Cobra to be the trainer for Cobra Troopers. A former US marine and SEAL team member, he was highly trained in all aspects of combat and held an expert marksman's rating, seeing combat in various theatres of war. After a bad training accident, he became increasingly paranoid about the military and government, eventually being discharged on psychological grounds.
He wandered around the USA for several years, joining up with various survivalist groups until he met the man who would become Cobra Commander. He convinced Wingfield that his way was the future and the former SEAL joined up with COBRA.
It wasn't long before reports of brutality and crazed sermons about totally destroying the USA and Russia came to the Commanders ears. Wingfield's views were too extreme even for Cobra Commander and Wingfield was exiled from the organisation.
Cobra had paid him well enough that he could afford to buy a compound out on the West Coast, recruiting others who shared his world view. Cobra Commander found out through the criminal grapevine about his plans for a nuclear attack on Russia. He was appalled by this, for what is the point of ruling a devastated world? He tipped off the FBI about Wingfield, knowing that they would alert the only team capable of stopping him: GI Joe.
When the smoke cleared, Wingfield's body was nowhere to be found. A damaged bulletproof vest was found at the edge of the compound, and a jeep and truck were missing. The public was told that he had been killed in order to prevent a panic.
Vance Wingfield is still at large, building up his supporters again. He is currently wanted by both NATO and The Warsaw Pact, and even COBRA has a contract out on him.
