With the new 25th Anniversary figures I thought I would go outside the Star Wars customs and try my hand at Joes. My first one is Scoop.

I know from what I have read that not many people like the color scheme on this guy, but I wanted to keep true to the original Hasbro figure and kept the color scheme and similar accessories.

My figure:

with helmet:

Parts:

Helmet: Elite Forces tank driver-modded
Head: Yavin Honor Guard
Body: Cobra Officer-modded
Gun belt: Not sure, found it laying on my work bench
Video Camera: Godzilla movie figure
Camera: cast of original camera from Scoop with styrene strap

I had to drill into the camera and add a post then drill into the shoulder for the post to go into to keep it pointed straight.

Whoa, you did an awesome job with the yellow paint. That's one of the worst colors to use, especially when covering a dark figure. I'd like to see a fully body shot to be able to give a better critique though, but from what I can see, he looks awesome and includes some nifty accessories.

Yellow is definantly the hardest color to paint and you did a great job!

I primed the figure with gray Krylon primer. I used Applebarrel paints. my first coating was Real Yellow. Then followed by about four coats of yellow. Time consuming but worth it, plus it gave the darker coloring to the yellow as opposed to just painting on Yellow on the primer.

One of the best yellow paint jobs I've seen in a while. How did you prep it?

And scoop is an unusual choice for a 25th remake. Any reason you chose him for your first?

The main reason I chose Scoop was to try my hand at the yellow paint job. Sure I could have gone with Airtight, but so many people have done their own versions of him I wanted to try a more obscure character.

I wasn't sure if my plan on priming and painting on a light yellow before putting on my main yellow would work. I have read so many people have had a hard time with yellows and don't like using it I wanted to give it crack in hopes of showing it can be done without any issues. I feel this one came out real well.

Great choice for a remake. And nice to see you giving Joe customs a chance. Hope to see more.

I really hope if they do Scoop, or any figure with such a bright color as his yellow, that they have the balls to do it right just like you did. Excellent work - that little camara is a choice accesory... it's the kind of thing that I always have lying around but I'm always hesitant to use because I like it so much.
