It's Large Army time again! I'm slowly in the process of bringing most of the old dios and videos back to the web. This sequence was originally issued as part of my dailies waaaaay back in 2001. As such, some of the techspeak is a little hokey and/or dated, but i'm still proud of the way the scene was staged.

I've recut the sequence and moved a few things around mostly to make the text more legible and the story a bit easier to grasp. This will all end up on the large army page, but i thought i'd preview it here first. Enjoy!

This chapter is building up to a video climax. It's also from back in the day, shot in 2001, but i don't think i've ever uploaded it before. It's got some quality issues, some of which i could fix now, but it's cool seeing it the old way too, since it helps me gauge how far i've come in producing stop motion.

On with the tale! The lack of breaks in the story aren't conducive to it's original structure, but you should still get the idea (roughly). Brace yourself for more technogeekery...

Final installment! The artifacts appearing in the video are where i had to speed up or slow down footage back in the day when i had very limited tools to do so. The music is a pastiche of songs intended to substitute for sound fx and dialogue. Not my best work, you'll have to wait another week or so for that ;-)

Let's see... if you're talking about the original video, it's probably among the last chapters of the story, which makes all this stuff a prequel. The above story is running pretty much parallel with "Abe's Here!", the opening pics of which are presented below. This was actually the very first sequence i threw myself into launching the daily on Novemer 30th, 2000. All the lettering has been or is being revised and this is as far as i've gotten with it so far.

All these guys (and gal) are members of Roger Hunter, a security team sent into the Grey Area to see what assets can be recovered from the Mollman factory presumed to be destroyed by the Zero Effect.

Okay, i'm gonna shift gears here and focus on another group of characters for the express purpose of getting to a sequence in which i utilized one of Cap's dios.

The setting: somewhere near the border of Mocco and Paranay. Their respective dissheveled armies are constantly engaging in ragtag hit & runs that rarely accomplish much of anything besides increasing the body count of their border dispute. Their conflict has lasted for many years prior and shows little sign of resolution.

Enter the Zero Effect: an extinction-level event that lays waste to about 1/3 of Mocco and over 90% of it's southern enemy. The armies do manage to survive it's immediate aftermath, but are not necessarily any better off. But, i'm getting ahead of myself...

The opposing forces of Mocco and Paranay suddenly find themselves whisked away from the battlefield in the blink of an eye. But where have they gone?

Apologies for the hugely disparate imagery in this vid. The first part was shot with ye olde webcam, my first one that was well on it's way to retirement already. This was done around 2002-3. The second was shot with a still pic digital camera that i had to build a rig for out of Legos to insure it remained stationary, since i had to actually touch it each time i took a picture. This was shot on Christmas break from film school 2004. The Photoshop-assisted fx and title screen are brand new, just completed last night!

I cheaped out again, just using music to fill in the sound, except one effect that was essential to the story. Without dialogue, it's a little tough to follow, so i've included some spoilerized comments beneath to help clear it up a little. Enjoy!
