So I probably have 20 different threads out there with Batman characters, 18 of them showing off tweaks to my main Batman figure. lol. I'm not normally a fan of large all-in-one threads, but I think the time is long overdue for me to do that with the Batman corner of my EXCAL universe.

So here in the first post is where I will keep my Bat roster up to date. That includes new figures, tweaks to old figures, and for those that are truly complete, I'll pop a pic in here also, just so my roster is complete.

Also, as of 11-16-14, this first post is pretty clean in terms of up to date versions of characters (thus far). I cleaned out a lot of the old. My most recent updates on Batman were to add the Black Suit, replace the head with one I built (Flint's chin on the Tab App Batman mask), and go with the Keaton cowl and cape, that Spin Doctor has used so brilliantly on his Bats. I also went with white lenses for the eyes, as my attempts to paint in eyes on this head just fell flat and somehow looked less realistic.

Batgirl: Barbara Gordon
In my verse, many of those who fill these titles will co-exist all at once. Barbara is my favorite Batgirl, but I also always found the disabling injury and her turn as Oracle to be compelling stories. In my EXCAL verse, the injury really happened, but she recovered much quicker than anyone knew. She continued on in the Oracle role, and stayed in the chair indefinitely, even while resuming her Batgirl career. This has helped her maintain the dual identities.

I have several versions, and envision even more. I think my future take on her might be using the Amazon Warrior head from Boss Fight, scale permitting. For now, each different version, even the different heads, are simply ways she has changed her appearance over the years.

The Joker?
The question mark is intentional. Rumors are swirling that the man known as the Joker might actually be either an impostor, or a thug in the real Joker's employ. Or is even that just a ruse? One can never tell, but Batman is on the trail of as many as 5 different Jokers at any given time. Previously, I had said:
Probably complete Joker now. Going for a Joker more menacing than the kind I remember from childhood, definitely a murdering psychopath, but yet toned down in some ways, amped up in others (like with the cleaver). Still has the distinctive overall color scheme, but with clothes not quite as over the top. At the same time, not quite the Ledger version either. More like if Nicholson and Ledger's Jokers had reproduced... So yeah, I guess you could say I was undecided... lol
Now, I'm not so sure that this is what I'm sticking with...

I like them all... well except Alfred. Alfred looks like he's moonlighting as one of Batman's villains, hehe. He has a "come here little girl, I got some candy" look going on, hehe. Great job on the custom, but he's just not speaking to me as Alfred.

The rest of them has that "real world" look more than the comics. Like these being based on people that are running around in these outfits. The straps, padding, and other stuff add a great deal to the look. I like them.

That new Batgirl is perfect. There is nothing to critique. I almost wish you made her BatWoman and gave her Cass or Stepphanie as a female sidekick just to incorporate their different Batgirl looks too.

J-man, thanks. This verse has taken up virtually all of my customizing time of late. Many have been posted before, but most all keep getting tweaked as I work on new figs. I'm pleased by the comment on the real people thing. That look is a big factor in what I'm trying to make.

pluv, thank you. I was really proud of this one as well. I may still do a Batwoman at some point, but the colors of the parts I had on hand really sparked this one, just as the parts I had for the purple version sparked that as well.

I'm also in something of a Batman, Inc. frame of mind (not literally from the comic) but where I see all the Batgirls co-existing. So I plan on expanding on the premise quite a bit.

I still need to add Harvey and Rachel to this thread, and I also have a WIP Joker.

It does help a little, but I still feel like he wants to touch me in parts Mommy and Daddy told me not to let people touch. Adding to the fact that, that face raising young Bruce... shiver, shiver.

Outstanding Doc, man I love the improvements to Batgirl. Robin is very cool too I much perfer the all red to the traditional green and yellow.

Really digging the new Babs - especially the unmasked head. Likewise with updated Catwoman.

My biggest issue with Alfred are those lower legs - they just don't fit with the rest of the figure. Too wrinkly and billowy. I'd recommend some ROC CC legs if you don't have access to SDCC Destro/Prof X legs. That's a POTF2 "old" Anakin head, right?

1st off, thanks for the comments. I appreciate you all looking, and I'm glad that my investment in the project shows.

As for Alfred, I'll admit at first he was something of a throw-away figure initially. I thought the head (yes, Chief, it's old Anakin) painted this way bore sufficient resemblance to Michael Caine, and his is the Alfred I have found to be thus far most compelling and realistic. I put that head on a recycled old attempt at Bruce, and here I am.

That said, Chief, you made the same recommendation on the pant legs when I first showed him a long time ago. The funny thing is that I took your advice then...and forget to take a pic. So I am updating that pic next. Hopefully with a shot that makes him look less Sanduskyish.
