Hey all- these were both pretty quick customs (don't have a lot of time nowadays). I complained about Firefly in Darko's wave 3 review thread, and went about fixing his shortcomings (being too tall, the webgear fitting weird, too light of a camo pattern, etc.) And with Shipwreck, I wanted to cobble together the best pieces of 25A Shippy with my custom job, but they really didn't meld well, IMO. Anyway, here's Shipwreck first. He's my BeachHead "fix" recipe, BH upper body with SE legs. I used a BBI head as a place holder thinking that 25A Shippy could donate the new head, but that didn't work. Then I was playing around and figured that the Obi Wan/Chuck Norris head with some darker hair might work just fine. And it did, IMO. I wanted to transplant 25A Shippy's Popeye forearms onto DDP SW, but I just didn't think it'd look right. Plus, I'd have to sculpt the "rolled-up sleeves" look, and I don't have the time for that right now. But I think this version matches the current comic look pretty well. ![]() With removable watch cap & Monkey: ![]() Compared to Hasbro's version: ![]() And with Firefly, I chopped him down at the boots rather than swap some SE legs for him, and it worked really well - so I didn't have to re-paint the whole thing. I gave him a dark wash to make his camo look better, and I swapped out his web gear for some modded Duke & SE bandoliers. This way, his backpack still fits and everything. ![]() Size comparison with the full-size BH(and FF) body and an LBC I'm calling "Rampage" for now: ![]() Lemme know whatcha think -- Cheers! |

Very nice. If only I'd've seen any Beach Heads I'd be regretting not buying a spare for that custom. |

Whoa, Shippy looks great, and the Obi Wan head looks similar enough to the 25th Shippy's to pass. Nice painting too; pretty flawless. |

Consider that Shipwreck idea stolen....I mean borrowed. Great job. Its a little hard to tell with the colors on my monitor..what did you use for the cap? Kama |

Thanks guys! Kama - that's a BBI watch cap - it came with one of the older figs (had night vision goggles & earphones attached that I removed.) |

Nice work as always Chief. I'm really surprised how well that Obi-Wan head works for Shipwreck. And "Rampage" is neat. I love LBCs |

Wow I like that Shipwreck head a whole lot better. Now if they only made some removable sailor caps. |

more good stuff chief. I agree firefly's webgear don't fit right but you took care of that. I got me a spare BH to make a custom just not sure who to do though. Tim |

Not a fan of DDP's Shipwreck, but he really looks good! The head gets the job done very well. |

Chief, Great job on the Shipwreck! You really did pull off the look from DDP on him. As for Firefly, I love the look you went with. Did you just remove some boot as alot of people have done, or cut and then drill up into the leg to remove some of the height issue? 'Rampage' is great, looks like he could be Stalkers rival in the woods or some such. As always, you did some awsome work! |

Other than the watch cap looking like a yarmulke, I think it's awesome. (not that there's anything wrong with yarmulkes, I think you should absolutely use one for Clutch.) That ribbed sweater is one of the most custom worthy parts they've ever produced. I can see you getting a lot of mileage out of them. I could easily see Hasbro using a similar formula and doing this as an actual release, because it's a great reuse of the tooling. All in all I'm very impressed. - R |

i'm just going to echo everybody else -- excellent job on that shipwreck. if i ever customize the 25th, i'm down with that sickness. hm. i didn't notice the need for the firefly mods, i better take another look at him... and thanks for showing that lbc, you've confirmed a recipe that i've been working on... all in all, a fine set of submissions,

Thanks everyone! Crown - I carved off the tops of his boots and re-glued them into place. The same thing DavAnthony did to fix his BH. JM - Firefly, like BeachHead, was just too damn tall (a hair taller than Roadblock), so I had to chop him down a notch. That, and I didn't like the way his gear rode up on his neck. Raps - yeah, there's a small strap on top of the watchcap that used to be part of the NVGs I carved off, so it makes the cap look a little odd from the front. From the side, I think it looks pretty good, though. The problem is the big mop of hair makes it hard to place the cap just right, but I don't plan to use it much anyway: Attachment: Thanks again, guys! |
