As promised here are the customs of Copperhead and Monkeywrench.

Copperhead

Parts:
Head-SW Dash Rendar head with added neck
chest-DTC Salvo
Arms,Waist,lower legs-Coil trooper
Upper Legs, Spy Troops Gung HO
Helmet-Spy Troops Duke helmet

Copperhead is cool. I dont' know why he just is. Maybe it's because he was very different looking from the Cobra's to date when he came out or maybe it was his ride. I also really liked his back story as I got older and felt he had an interesting background as a gambler and someone who really just lived on the wrong side of things. The one thing I liked about Dic's Operation Dragonfire was that they gave Copperhead a bit more respect then he had previoulsy, and he actually achieved some level of command. I also like the idea that DD had in making him the Cobra naval commander but he still comes across a bit too thuggish for that.

Anwyay with this custom I bascially took DD intial design for Copperhead and built off of that. I also went with Master Collectors idea of making him a red-head and added that to this figure. I used a Dash Rendar head, which I've had lying around since '98 since I took apart my "prequel" version of Anakin. The attitude and look seemed to fit what I was going for with Copperheads attittude perfect. This figure came togeather pretty easily. The only difficult part per se was trimming down his inner shoulder joints so the arms would fit into the chest piece and extending and sculpting his neck into a ball joint so it would fit.

Monkeywrench

Parts:
Head,chest (extended),Grenade strap, upper legs (modded)-DTC Monkeywrench
Upper Arms,waist (modded),boots(modded)-JvsC Ripper
Lower Arms-DTC Salvo
Lower legs-JvsC Wild Bill

I liked the DTC Monkeywrench but just wanted something that looked more like the original. I felt that the DTC version would make a really good Machete as time went on it just didn't work for me. None of Monkeywrench's trademark stuff was going on with that figure. I wanted him to have his red shirt and to be more bikerish. I also wanted to add a "sweaty" look to the guy. I remember during his introduction in "Arise Serpentor Arise" he definatly had a sleazy way about him as he waited for the other new Dreadnoks potentials to fight it out and then he just lobbed a grenade into them all. I wanted to get that "sleaze" feel across here and I figure none of the Dreadnoks are high on hygiene but I felt Monkeywrench really takes this to heart.
It took me forever to find a leg combination that worked for me. I ultimatley ended up chopping up Wild Bill's legs and adding Rippers lower legs to it then sculpting the entire bottom of the leg from his knee pad to the ripped up jeans part of the Ripper lower leg. It was alot more work then I had wanted to do but in the end I was really happy with the result.

Really great looking figures. Monkeywrench looks a lot better this way than how the DTC version looked.

Yeah, Monkeywrench is flawless. This is how he should've looked.

I appreciate all the work you did on Copperhead. And the paint is perfect, as always. But something about the parts isn't flowing together for me. Maybe it's the way the piping on his calves doesn't continue up his thigs or maybe its the way the helmet doesn't sit quite right on his head. I don't know. Great work...just not doing it for me the way Monkeywrench does.

Awesome as always! Dash's head works really well here - I've used it on some of my older Joe customs - I may have to revisit them - since I have a few Dashes left in the bin.

The updates to MW are perfect -- the red shirt makes a world of difference and I don't know why I never thought of it - I've been trying to figure out how to "fix" my Monkey Wrench for over a year. I think I have my inspiration now.

Really great - thanks for sharing!

It's been a busy few days I thought I had responded here but I guess I didn't, sorry about that.

I was actually really happy with how Copperhead turned out. I had wanted to try some different things with him. I actually didn't want the padding to go all the way up his leg. Since I've seen that done in alot of other customs I wanted to do something different and instead decided to keep the padding to a minimum on him. So the shorter padding on his lower legs matches the shorter padding on his forearm. The helmet actually fits quite a bit better in person but he was such a [LASER BLAST] to take pictures of that I forgot to push his helmet down once I got excited that I was actually getting some good shots of him.

I'm happy with Monkeywrench too. It's funny I had thought about painting his shirt black and making his jacket red and then decided to keep his primary colors but just reverse them from the original and Devils Due's version and I felt that it really cliqued nicely.

Thanks again for the comments everyone. I should have some more stuff in the next month or so.

Those are great. I love the color scheme you picked for Copperhead.
