During the early years of the Galactic Civil War, Mik Nels'n was the second victim of one of the diobolical Dr. Clayton For'est'r's sinister experiments. Isolated on a small space station, Nels'n was forced to watch some of the worst holo-vids ever produced while Dr. For'est'r monitored their effects on his mind. Nels'n had no control over the films and was forced into watching them as the life support would be deactivated across the entire station except for in the theatre during the holo-vid's runtime. Along with the horribe holo-vids, the isolation would eventually cause mental deterioration, and the experiment was designed to test just how long the human mind can deal with negative stimuli before the subject has a complete mental breakdown. Luckily for Nels'n, the original test subject, Jo-el Hogst'n (who eventually escaped his captivity), reprogrammed a quartet of the station's service droids with quirky personalities to keep him company and prevent insanity. For seven standard years, Mik and the 'bots were forced to endure scores of terrible holo-vids before Dr. For'est'r's fundng was cut and the station was left to drift off into deep space with Nels'n and his robot companions still aboard. After several years of drifting across the cosmos and having all sorts of unusual encounters, Nels'n and his mechanical cohorts eventually ganed their freedom and now reside on Tattooine where they spend almost all of their time in Nels'n's domicile still watching terrible holo-vids or going to public theatres to see terrible holo-vids where they are continually asked to stop talking during the show...

Yes, I am a HUGE fan of "Mystery Science Theatre 3000".

This project was over a decade in the making. I have been trying to find a way to realize Mike and the 'Bots in plastic form ever since the modern Star Wars line began in 1995 and only just yesterday figured out a feasible way. I was always going back and forth on how the 'Bots should look. On one hand, I wanted them to be recognizable as their television counterparts but on the other hand I did not want them to look like they were made from everyday items like the actual puppets were. I finally decided to "Star Wars"-ize them up a bit so as to better fit into my Universe but still kept enough of their trademark characteristics so anyone who has ever seen the show can look at them and identify them right away. One of the hardest parts of this project was desigining a body for Gypsy as it was never shown on-screen (she was always just a head on a hose). It took a few hours to find something suitable for her character and for her role as a maintenance droid.

I started the actual build yesterday morning around 7am and finishd the final paint applications this morning around 5am creating this entire project in under 24 hours!

Great job on these. I really like the Star Wars-ized versions you came up with. I tried my best at guessing parts but even then I cna't tell what all of the pieces are.

Tom Servo
Head: Micro Machines death star interrogator drone
arms: Pod racer repari droids
Body: ?
Body front piece: I know I've seen it before but can't place it.
bottom: half a holographic death star?

Crow
Head: Trade federation battle droid with random bits maybe a model canopy.
Body: Battle droid

Gypsy
Head: Mouse droid w/ Wet Suit flashlight
Neck: tubing from ?
Body: Episode I accessory pack droid
Arms: Lego Bionicle?

Cambot
random bits

Some pretty good guesses there, you actually hit a few of them right on the nose!

The ones you missed were:

Tom Servo
Body: kitbashed from 2 Chap Mei underwater flash lights
Body front piece: 2 rear pieces from Battledroid heads
bottom: part of a "Star Trek" Space Station MicroMachine

Crow
Head: 2 Trade federation battle droid with the top of a Grevious' bodyguard head and the headpiece thingy from a ROTS Mon Mothma
Body: Battle droid upper, Pit Droid Lower

Gypsy
Head: ourboard moter for lower jaw
Neck: tubing from black Heat Viper launcher (x2)
Arms: Exo-Squad accessory (left) Burger King Kids' Club wind-up toy (right)

Cambot
Pokemon pokeball w/ lense and cog from Chap Mei underwater camera, part of a "Star Wars" Expanded Universe Suncrusher MicriMachine.

Argh :-x I knew, I knew that one.

And I should have known this one. Such much tubing, so little time.

Just goes to show how good you did disguising all of those parts.

Those are awesome! It seems like a lot of people forgot about that show. The customizing is top shelf. You can hardly tel what any of the parts are.

THESE GUYS ARE AWESOME!

The robots are out of control-- I really love the way you integrated them into your universe but still kept them recognizable.

Only one pic is missing: Mike and the boys in silhouette, watching a B-movie!

I have never loved customs this much. MST3K always has been and always will be my favorite show ever (and the new Rifftrax are pretty damn awesome, too). I've often played around with the idea of doing MST3K customs, but could never think of how to pull them off. These are absolutely great!

What's with all these guys getting into car accidents and then going on fantastic creative binges?

Honey, gas up the caddie....

Seriously, I love MST3K, and miss them on the tele.

Rockage cubed.

Sorry my man, it's not for lack of affection for the character, but Sanction isn't an established part of the Joe/Cobra mythos and I am strictly sticking with characters that are canon for my "Brotherhood Of The Serpent" and "Galactic Intelligence: Joint Operations Elite" projecects.

Crow is a total jerk and I just couldn't do the character justice unless he had his mouth open to deliver some smart-ass comment

Too bad you necer saw the show, it's frickin' hilarious!

It's called having too much free time on your hands because you are injured and out of work

I'm glad I have this hobby to keep me occupied during this time or else I'd most likely just be depressed and sleep all of the time.

Thanks!

I miss the hell out of this show. I cannot listen to the Rifftraks sadly as I am stuck on crappy dial-up but I have heard nothing but good things about them.

Dude. First a Rip Taylor custom and now MST3K. You are rocking some awesomeness!

Great work on making the robots from SW parts. I prefer Tom Servo's gumball machine head, though.
