Post subject:  How to waste a Saturday....."I need a weapon"

After Levantine started this thread earlier today, I got the bug to build my own updated Master Chief figure.

I already had one made out of Spy Troops figs, but there was never any real effort put into it - just some painting. This time around, I got out the Green Stuff and went to work. Sure, I should have taken my time and done a piece at a time over a couple of days, but I was just having too much fun:

I went for the "battle damaged" look - lots of dings, etc (made it easier to sculpt, too, because little flaws weren't that big of a deal.)

I've read descriptions of MC's "unmasked" look (taken from the books), and decided to put that aborted 25A Hawk head to good use:

Image

Entire fig was a 25A Roadblock with ST Armor, Microman armor, Green Stuff, and a Master Gunzz cast MC head.
Here's a size comparison -- he's not exactly 7', but he's tall enough for me:

And the WIP shots from earlier today:

Ok - the wife is pretty pissed because all I did was build this fig and watch "Have Gun Will Travel" DVDs all day. I guess I have a big "to-do" list for tomorrow. :-/

Cheers!

I love Master Chief and you do "John 117" a great service with this fig.

Chief,

You did MC good with that on. I really like the total feel of MC after a 'walk in the park' look. Great job on the sculpting and details.

Another homerun.

Job well done on this one! Looks really nice. I spent all day on just 2 parts of a scratch built plane I'm making. :-/ The styrene just wasn't wanting to work with me.

Thanks guys! I'm pretty proud of this one, despite him being a bit of a rushed job.

My favorite part is that he's still fully-poseable - and the ball-socket neck makes for some great poses (I just glued the RB head inside the helmet - so the heads are swappable and he has the original RB movement.) I only wish Roadblock had the double-hinged knees that the rest of the 25A figs have, but it's still tons better than my LBC MC custom:

What bugged me yesterday was that I show my WIPs to my wife & daughter to get their objective opinions. Since I make the majority of my non-Joe customs based on my larger-scaled toys, I handed them the WIP and my 7" MC to compare. The wife didn't understand that I hadn't painted him yet (despite the 6 different colors & the bright green Kneadatite) - she was like "I don't like the silver shoulder pads. Luckily, my daughter, who helps me out with a lot of customs, told her "he hasn't painted it yet, Mom - that's the "Green Stuff" he uses" - and rolled her eyes as well :P I was so proud. But then again, she plays Halo with me all the time, so she was very pleased with MC. I've got to make her a Cortana or a female Spartan now.

Thanks again!

Sweet, even though I've never played the game the figure has always intrigued me.
Just wish I would have known he was 7ft before I made mine, he's kinda short.

Again sweet figure.

That looks great!

It seems like the Master Chief is one that everyone has to do eventually as we do not have a "Halo" toyline in 1/18 scale :(

I made my own a couple of years ago:

I also made him some friends:

Thanks!

I remember seeing all your stuff at the Custom Alliance way back when, Spectre -- you were actually the one that got me working on my first one. I've been trying for years to copy your Warthog, but could never find a suitable base vehicle.

Maybe there'll be a Warthog in the new line that is compatible.

Thanks again!
