Dio stories are my favorite. I've always planned on doing one but never have... I should probably change that.
It's incredibly daunting for me. OreoBuilder made it look so easy. I /think/ this is the first one I've really ever actually set down and shot. Would love to see what you would come up with!
Storyboard! Storyboard! Storyboard! Plan out as much as you can ahead of time so you know what shots you absolutely need to hit. Who is in the scene? What props do you need? Any set building? Is it going to require digital f/x later or can you make it work with practical effects or no f/x at all? Having a road map to follow just helps a ton.
Then take a ton of shots of that scene from different angles and focusing on different spots. Any time I've ever tried to do one, having those extra shots saved my ass when I needed to add dialogue or the shot I thought nailed it ended up not working the way I intended. But more importantly, gave me options for the amount of space I had for word bubbles.
Last bit of advice I have is start small. Way too many people try to tell a whole novels' worth of story right out of the gate. Start with a 5-10 intro. Really get the feel for it to see how you cna streamline the process and make things easier for yourself. But it will also help you balance the later projects because you'll know the areas that take up the most of your time for it.
