well i seem to have a "can't see the forest" and "cart before horse" scenario all at once. hyper focused on getting he-mans hair right (there is actually a 3rd re contour and paint before these pics) , i never considered the body looking so bad once painted. maybe bad is the wrong word, but it totally sticks out at me as "off". it didn't before paint, but now my favorite headsculpt looks pin headed. i have taken hundreds of pics from all angles and heights, still wonky. it is slightly better with the jon cena rumbler head, but dang if he don't look like he is on scooby do.

just yuck

i need your ideas. i did shorten the legs along the way so that might add to the offness. i already pulled off the belt an plan to try and grind down the furkini. that may be my biggest problem since i liked him better with the loin cloth. i have one more of the base figures i can build with the skirt to see.

i still have a hundred or so images in my editer, but at this point i'm ready to hit reset.

Mine was giving me problems as well -- still very much a WIP, although I think I have the sculpting/modding part finally done, and just need to finish the paint job. Because my placeholder paint apps are pretty rough.

Mine looked too bulky for the longest time - and I think you & I had similar designs beyond just the Herc body - what I ended up doing was dremeling the straps under the arm until they were super-thin so they hugged the contour of the torso without bulking it up. Also, I ground down his hips so that his waist didn't look so bulky under the loin cloth. Even managed to get it narrowed down well enough so that the HACKS barbarian furkini was able to fit over his waist and it actually looks decent now. His legs were a problem for me - because when I used the Thor lowers, the legs were actually too long and made him look disproportional. I ended up switching back to the Herc lowers and used the HACKS fur tops (still need to add the straps), and the boots look too short, so I might move the fur bits up above the calf swivel and try again (since I can keep the articulation under the fur). I also ended up sculpting longer hair for a couple of reasons -- the paigeboy haircut always bugged me, and making his hair longer seemed to help with the head proportions. Since he's super-human, I can accept *some* wonky proportions, but only to a point

thanks for the play by play! yours really does look much better to my eyes!

i'm still trying to save my sculpted furkini, but i'm not sure i can. i have 2 base figures with sculpted fur, and one without so have plenty to play with.

i'm taking a un modified set of executioner legs and adding my hacked up thunder thor boot/fur and trying to mod a set of mcdonalds he-man feet. if that doesn't work i'll have to give up on that base and go for the skirt.

i have been steady working on he-man so i think i'll skip all the rest of those last pics. i did have some other updates in that session though so i'll post them.

my updated jason is almost done. i did some sculpt on his torso and legs.
Image
Image

updated mm still needs some paint too. the "blue" wash is gloss paint, but it will get sealed with matte. how is the "jump suite" sculpting?
Image
he is huge compared to my first one.
Image

i'm not sure who this guy is. i've had the horned head on many bodies, but finally got a good fit. lots of sculpt on the tmnt torso.
ImageImage

i sculpted a new horn for venger and painted his face.
Image
Image

i think et is ready to be sealed. he looks too happy, but maybe locked in a specimen chamber he will loose that smile....Image
Image

my final faction tremor/alien paint match went really well. i'm not sure if i'll paint the lower jaws or just start some washes.Image

I love what you're making.

Final faction guy also looks like a bioengineered Mouser from TMNT.

thanks sgcaper! you suggested the two base figures last year? maybe? they are primo fodder, but why not use them on customs :) especially characters at the top of my want list. i'm hoping to have one done by halloween. i missed my traditional spooky house halloween pic last year.

skipping over some more pics of he-man with ground skirt and unpainted full legs. i'm too stoked by these few pics ro wait to edit everything. so glad i didn't stick with the last version!
new legs, reground fur britches, full skin paint. i still need to sort/grind/paint that belt buckle ,and decide on how to show a belt. either wire or thin metal over the fur i think. also need a little sculpting on boot fur.

That He-Man is fantastic. The full paint makes all the difference.

i still have a ton of he-man pics to edit, but i am way further on him than they show. i might skip them and just catch him when i get 100% done. right now i'm trying to make his sword. the figure is 100% painted and sealed, but i didn't pose/repose and paint so it might go bad when i go to get pics. i hope not!

here are a few test shots of my jason figure in front of the spooky house. i noticed his coat was super tacky after i sealed him, so it got taken off and scrubbed(didn't help) and repainted. i think i got it back just as good as seen here, but the proof will be in final pics.

i need to get pics of the machetes i've been working on. i made 2 in the standard style, then looked at pics and made one pretty true to jason vs. freddy. it is a big ugly thing. i had a couple going i didn't like so they will be made into fantasy blades of some type. while i was at it i made some new knives for mike too. MM himself i did some resculpting on his torso and just sprayed that black.

a couple quick shots.

i'm really happy with the 3 new machetes.
L-R there is VS freddy with steel, brass, and shaped plastic handle. shiny steel and heat shrink. a rolled out nail, heat shrink, blackened with sharpie and fire. and my old jason machete made from a butter knife and melted plastic. the new ones will probably get some blood too :)Image
i just learned i could "texture" heat shrink handles a couple of ways with tweezers and/or pliers.

the newly finished jason!
Image

and a quick size comparison with he-man.
Image

more to come of them all, i have hundreds of pics now to go through......
