  • This section is for honest critique of the work shown here. Members are encouraged to give and accept non-confrontational constructive criticism as well as adoring praise and everything in between.
  • In order to show case everyone's work equally, please post multiple customs on the same day into a single thread. If you have a lot of pictures of your work you may have to add them to a separate post within that thread.
  • Please do not link to a sale thread or to eBay from your critique thread. This section isn't to be used to market your finished work. The Market Place section is better suited for that purpose.

I'll be damned if I'll have some professional customizer come in and tell me how much my stuff sucks  .

......I do that to myself already :P

By all means, critique away -- this forum is designed specifically for that. Otherwise we'd title the section "Praise" or "Come and stroke my ego". I know there are folks who can't take constructive criticism, but luckily, they don't last long around here. And we don't have much tolerance for the "Hey, why aren't you lavishing me with :arsekisser: praise on my latest masterpiece?!?" crowd. We're about sharing ideas, improving our skills, and of course - showing off. But I think everyone can benefit from another critical eye around here.

Just remember that we're just amateurs, so take it easy on us ;)

They way i approch my cretiques is in a constructive way, asin if there is something i feel that can be improved on, i just suggest what else might work even better than what they have already done...

such as using a different joe part, to doing it in a different colour. then its pure suggestion and its then entirely up to them to decide to make the change or not.

Some times it might be a case of something looking out of place, and i will point out what apears to be out of place, but cant narrow down what it exactly is.

But i think everyone here will always be happy with suggestions to improve their skills, its kind of why to do it, or to just show off ther l33t skilz to increase their big head :) .

I wanted to ask all of you and get a general voice on it, do you all mind if I add my critiques in? I realize that's what the forum topic says, but given I'm pretty well known that can cause problems with some people. I don't want to be overbearing or seem like an ass if I give suggetions about something someone spent time and effort on. But my intentions are always honest, to help someone progress their skills. Without trying to put myself like some kind of authority on customs, I have viewed thousands upon thousands of them and have a pretty good eye for what will impress others and how to go about that. So sometimes I'll suggest things, or point out a small flaw, helpful stuff. I just want to make sure it's ok with all of you before I do.

I would start posting my stuff in critiques again for a shot at you leaving a critique. I respect your work and opinions quite a bit.

Some of my most loved customs are ones that drew a critique out of IWBETA or Livevil and the like.

A lot has already been said, but still.....
I've just posted my first custom two days ago. I'd be happy to get critiques from anyone, experienced customizer or beginner. (hint, hint :whistling: ) I guess everyone else would too, because it really is a bit showing off what you've been working on for some time. It's your personal achievement. Showing it to people around you who don't even know what G.I.Joe is doesn't work. They go like "yeah, a painted figure, so what?". The people over here understand there is quite some effort and creativity involved. The creator would feel more appreciated with all the comments.
You can do with the critiques whatever you want. Indeed, if you don't like it, then leave the custom your way. YOU are the one who made it. Sometimes critiques just help you getting ideas to make your custom look that little bit extra awesome.

I say ctitique away, it's always cool to have some of the well know or best customizers say something about some of us and yeah it is your opinion but might not be everyones either. Some stuff you or someone else thinks is great could be someone elses crap but we should be able to handle the good and bad.
I think it's kinda lame when some of the"great" never say anything about some peoples custom but do about others. When I had master gunnzz comment on how much he's been enjoying my 25th customs over at gtg awhile back I thought WOW and that was so great for him to comment.
I've had comments from Aly but that took along time coming and there has been greats here too that mean alot to me, so Please critic my stuff.
Tim

Aw thanks all! I just got back from the weekend busywork, sorry I didn't reply back earlier to all of you.

It's true I'm just now getting into customizing Joes and finding out all the little things that make up the style. I've learned a great deal just by reading through the boards here and checking out the ways you all customize yours. So thanks in advance for the inspiration.

I asked out of respect for you all here, not because I think of myself as anyone important, but that some people view me differently and I want to take that all into account first. I mean it's crazy, one day I'm making Marvel vs Capcom characters, the next I'm showing up in magazines and people noticed. I still feel like 'just Jin' but use to never take into account how others saw me when I was posting whatever was on my mind at the moment.

I appreciate the warm welcome here and I'll start critiquing like part of the team, rar! Catch you all in the forums!

**Question tho, are we suppose to make seperate threads for our customs here or one all-inclsive thread where we edit the title to reflect the new customs? I know some sites like the Transformers ones want individual posts for easy searching while others want one expanding thread so it doesn't clog the forums.

The general way we do it is that if you're posting 5 different customs on the same day, throw them into the same thread (or if you're posting a "team" and such.) Otherwise, it's cool to have separate threads for your customs. The big thing is that flooding the forum with 8 threads in one day is a little much.

And there are some folks who keep a running thread of their work, but sometimes it makes it harder to tell when they post new stuff.

For me, if I make say 3 different customs in a day (which I have been known to do :shifty: ), I'll throw them in one thread. If they're all Avengers, for example, and I make more members of the team, or more superhero-type customs in the same week, I'll "update" the thread. But if a day or so later, I decide to make some Joe Customs, I'll start a new thread. Also, if I'm actually looking for in-depth critiques, I make individual threads so I can have each thread dedicated & specific to that custom. If I'm just wanting to show off, I'll throw them all in one thread for the week ;)

So basically, as long as you're not "spamming" the forum with multiple threads all at once, whichever way you want to showcase your stuff is fine.

And again - welcome to the boards - look forward to seeing more good stuff from you!
