Yes, it sounds like you take a 2D approach (as if you're painting an illustration on a canvass), but wrap it over a 3D item, if I understand it correctly. I will give that a try.

yep - base, then lowlights, then highlights, but with corrections for overfill along the way

I need to see a shot of Batman running through that dio, carrying a ping-pong ball like the meme of Adam West and the "BOMB".

Thanks guys! Movie still is a great compliment Spin. Appreciated. It's what I strive for, but damn if these results didn't floor me.

Been in set making and photography mode lately. And fine details like the bag for Ajax’s horse, and the scrolls and spell book, details shots pending.

That saddle bag is great. I immediately sighed and thought, that would take me 2 hours. That is what I see now. I'm in some kind of customizing Matrix where all I see is the time I don't have to produce anything even close to that level of work.

thanks fellas.

Of everything here, the spellbook has far and away been the biggest time suck. I mean the city stuff when you look at all of it, but that's a minute here or 30 there. The book has had me under some kind of... wait, I had something for this... anyway, I'm very immersed in that effort. I'll show the pages soon.

The city shot with the "modern me" is an Extreme Sets cardboard set. Standing alone it's not totally impressive. Integrated with the rest of the city stuff, I like it a lot more.

As for the saddle bag, it started out life as a Lil Bratz purse. I painted it green, cut off some cheesy fringe, replaced the strap and doodled a bad replica of the shape of the shield onto its face. definitely not two hours.

Apologies for not organizing the genres, but it’s very reflective of my manic customizing style.

The secret revealed... not really. Just screwing around
Image

Same Solid Snake body. New and newly painted Solid Snake head. Also fun shots

Been doing some resin projects unrelated to customs, but trying some stuff out with surpluses. This was a test. I need a large silicon tray for a comfortable fit, and when I get that I’ll also use a more appropriate Cap
Image

I don’t remember what line this is from, but I suspect some kind of tru heroes type line. It was molded in soft grey plastic. Now looks interesting
Image

My adventurers always seem to spend most of their time in taverns. This is just a warm up shot. Have more pending here
Image

Added this Matrix dio piece to my bookshelf. Makes for nice quick shots
Image
Image

New ranger added to Blackthorne’s team
Image

Wouldn’t be a Bindy post without an Ajax set. The one with the scarf is a partially new build. I can still swap in short sleeved arms for a t-shirt, but wanted something more befitting the notion that it’s cold in space. The three on the right are HACKS builds and mostly interchangeable. The space suit is not new but I’m still happy with it.
Image

I think the head with the techno-monocle is the new default for the combat armor. And the removable helmet for this suit still fits over the head
Image

Image

Closer of the unarmored version. It’s essentially the same figure underneath there. One of the things I added to both versions are the launchers on the left hand. A lot of my sci-fi stuff fits into the settings of an RPG called Star Frontiers. I read an add-on where they had a “gyrojet wrist launcher” and decided he needed it
Image

Also updated the Ajax kids
Oldest and youngest, new figures and heads
Image

And I advanced the age of the middle one to be more part-of-the-crew worthy
Image

Man the stuff that happens in Big Papa’s spaceyard
Image
Random ship shots
Image
Image
Image
Image

New head for my Sterling Archer
Image

Obligatory drink in hand
Image

Wanted a new and larger dragon. Previously made one for a heavily articulated raptor thing. This one is suitably larger.
Image
Image
Image

I made some mods to Blackthorne so his arms don’t stick out and can naturally rest at his sides
Image

Rangers Blackthorne and Cap leave the Imperial City
Image

Another sneak peek at the scrolls. These all have contents drawn inside, and some are sealed with wax and an in-scale signet
Image

Also made a D&D Beholder using an old foam monster ball as base
Image

And last. I think. Another project using left over resin:
