Posted some final pix of Steeler on the next page: http://www.joecustoms.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=8398&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=15After getting a better look at the Clutch coming out from Hasbro, I decided I liked it better than my custom, so I had a figure to repurpose.

The first thing I harvested was his shoulder holster, which I needed to finish my Steeler custom (I really don't like the look of the one Hasbro's putting out).

Then I snaked Clutch's head and kit-bashed it to an extra Snow Job body. A few intensive modifications later and I had the start to a Frostbite custom. O'm at a loss as to what to use for the hat, though. Any suggestions?

Both are looking great, maybe a han solo in hoth gear hood might work ?

Very nice on both Spin!

Steeler works, no doubt. Frostbite is great, really diggin' him. I'm no help with the hat though, sorry.

That's extensive sculpting on Frostbite? It looks like it wasn't sculpted at all, so very nice indeed!

As for a hat, I cropped a Swamp Rat helmet for my Frostbite because I liked the goggles. It would look better with some sculpted fur flaps on the sides, though.

Spin, frostbite is down right awesome. The clutch head is a perfect choice for him and the figure looks like he just walked off the shelf.

He said modifications not sculpting. I think he cut that from something else.

That sounds like it is full of win right there. Shoudln't be too hard to track one down either.

I really like the Arctic Clutch. Yeah, I like that head so much for Clutch it is really hard for me to see him as anybody else. Simple but totally effective design either way.

Steeler is solid but I'm just not sold on that head. For some reason I see him as pretty clean cut and the stubble doesn't work for me hear.

Duuuuuuuuude that Frostbite is brilliant if youcan't create one maybe dremmal the hat off the original and mod it a bit. I personally am not that good yet but I've seen all of your work and think you could pull it off.

Actually, you're both right. The holster was easy...I just snagged it from the Eversparkle set and drilled a little hole in the flattened chest to fit the peg. But flattening the chest took a lot of work. The plastic on these 25th torsos seems harder or more solid than it was on a lot of the new-sculpt figures, and the Snow Job mold has a lot of unpainted detail that I needed to handle just right in order to pull off the right look for the shoulder holster. Plus, I had to shave the top of the shoulders, around the collar, pretty evenly smooth to bond with the fur lining properly (that being the top of a Snow Wolf cape).

Wasn't sure what you meant 'til I looked it up and pluv is right, that's a winner of an idea. Thanks!

Funny thing about this observation is that back when I got my first look at Frostbite in 1985, I was SURE that it was just supposed to be clutch in an arctic outfit. He had the same beard and a shoulder holster, and they'd just released a new Snake Eyes, so why not. Of course, I also thought Bazooka was a new Zap and that Alpine might be a new Stalker, but that's really neither here nor there.

I definitely characterize Steeler as the clean-cut ROTC guy in my dioverse, so I'm not sure why I thought the stubble worked for him here. I'll keep my eye out for a better noggin and swap it out before I consider him "final." I also need to try and figure out a belt for him, I think.

Thanks, everyone, for the comments and the ideas. Now to find me one of those Han Solos...

These are a lot of fun! Especially the frostbite- I've always loved that head, but not for Clutch- now I know what it was made for! Not crazy about the Flash, Grand Slam, Grunt noggin' but I understand why you used it- he looks cool, but he needs a belt. They need belts or they look like there wearing exercise pants.

both of these look great Spin, I really like that head for frostbite a total win there. On Steeler I do like the stubble look for him, I think you should just sculpt a little flop of hair on him to change the appearance of his hair, otherwise very cool,
Tim
