Another custom I'd been wanting to make for years. Then today, while looking at the X-wing helmet that came with the Comic Pack Luke Skywalker, I had a revelation: "this would make an awesome Airtight helmet!"

I didn't want to use yellow, because it's dumb and a pain in the ass to paint with. I discovered painting with tan is almost as bad  (as evidenced by the spots I missed that the camera picked up.)

I need to find my original AT accessories, but here he is for now:

He needs some touching up - especially his leg & arm straps, but I'm happy with him. Two years of being on the "to do" list and I get him done in less than 2 hours. I'm pretty lame sometimes.

Later!

Fantastic AT, man. I was never high on Airtight as a kid but this I would pick up.

Pretty sweet, I woulda used a head closer to the comic one but thats just me. Tan can indeed be a pain, but Model Masters covers quite nice (in fact I bought like 5 at once lol)

Thanks guys!

Actually, Lt, I did use Model Masters -- I should have primed the fig first - that would have saved a lot of work. And this head was as close as I could get to the comic look and still fit inside the helmet. I may give him darker hair, though.

Very sweet.

Chief, there's a Citadel Colours paint that makes a great yellow, Bubonic Brown. It's actually a medium yellow that coats very well.

Totally sweet. That helmet idea is inspired.

Wow.. Your customs keep getting better and better, Chief. This one is perfect. I love the color combination.
Airtight is a cool character and deserved this custom.

While I could take or leave the character I think you did a great job with him. The tan works very well and fits with your more "realistic" Joeverse. I totally agree on yellow (along with white and sometimes red) being on the "do not use unless the world is coming to an end" list and substituting light tan here is genius! Before I saw the pics I expected to see an Air Trooper helmet but that X-wing helmet works even better. Nice job mate!

Any chance of seeing the grenades/shells on his leg painted up like sample vials?

That's the one thing I forgot to do before snapping the pics (I was pretty tired last night and wanted to post this as soon as the paint was dry, forgetting the details). I'll get that out today sometime. I'll make them into Atropine injectors or something of that nature.

Thanks for all the comments, guys!

Could we get the Recipe, Chief? Specifically the arms?

BTW, Chief...Mets suck, Yankees suck...Krypton sucks!

Lol - I figured somebody would remember the quote ;)

Recipe is easy:
Fig: All single-pack SE
GungHo's grenades in place of the knife sheath.
Steel BDE head
Roadblock belt (cut from webgear)
Depth Charge/Torpedo rebreather
Comic Pack Luke (the 2-pack with Mara) helmet.

No real mods to anything. The only hard part was the painting. The SE arms lend themselves to painting gloves on like that -- it worked great for my Flash & Grand Slam, and I think it looks even better on AT.

Here he is now that I've cleaned him up a little -- I painted the "vials" on his leg and also painted the detonator or whatever on his left leg to look like a radiological test kit. Oh, and here are a couple new 25A customs that I probably won't bother posting in their own thread:
