Wow John that's a really cool playset, it reminds me of back in the day when usd to make stuff like that for my 12" Joes and Big Jim. Remeber the station with the tower that pulled with radar and search light and chair the elevated up to it?

Great stuff "J", these knid of things are what makes customizing soooooooooooooooooo much fun.

You hit a bullseye with that comment. The main part of this hobby is having fun, and being able to share what you've created with others.

Looks great so far. The hot glued weapons waroks so much better here. Not just the mess, but it looks so much cleaner than having pins or somethign support the weapons. Whether here or the next place he needs a mini fridge and a tv so he can watch Golden Girls while cleaning his guns. Oh, wait, that's Deadpool.

Fantastic work, J.

Your attention to detail and simplicity of design give this piece a character and versatility that's reminiscent of the best sets Cap has built for me.

And that's about the highest praise I can give.

Thanks, Ray. That's about the best compliment I could hope for. Hay, maybe someday we'll see a Keenan based Dio in your stories ;-) .

that was fast!

That turned out really cool, man -- i, too thought using removable guns would've been better --
until i thought about the first time i'd bump the thing in passing -- yeah. that would be frustrating to
keep having to put those guns on the wall...

question: what are the gun walls made of? those lines are kick@ss!

Jeff, the gun walls are 1/8" plexi that I scored to make the lines. I sprayed the other side with chrome paint (didn't show up too well). Then sprayed the textured paint over that, then hot glued the. to the foamboard walls.
It did go together pretty quick. I'm looking forward to starting the next one- this one gets picked up Wed night.

An excellent job there John. Interesting use of plexiglass indeed.

When I did Spin and other's weapons racks, I hot glued them directly to the plastic canvas for the exact same reasons. It would have been a nightmare to bump it and have the weapons go everywhere. Also, with the enormity of all the Joe and other line weapons that are made, losing some permanently is never a problem. It actually made room for more! ;-)

You should try and do a self contained armory one day. Like the one Arnold in Commando used. Same principle as the one you've designed, but with a removable roof, or roof and one wall for very believable photo shoots. That way you can have great internal and external shots. Thinking of giving Leon one for the dio I am doing, and may also use it for the Jason Bourne Chief made for me.

Awesome job there, indeed.

I decided to make some clips out of plexiglass. They turned out okay for a first attempt.

Have you thought about adding a dio building tutorial section to the wiki or your store? You should. Nice job as always. We've definitely got to together to compare notes.
