I recently have been going through some old customs and came across a few I have never posted, one or two that I never showed after correcting some things, and I finished a new one on top of all that...

First, I finished my Night Raven pilot Wild Weasel:

Image

This is the fourth WW custom I've done, and even still I was finding new details I had never noticed on him before. A very awesome figure, and I am pretty happy with the outcome here.

Next, a near LBC member of my CID SWAT unit, for now I call jim Skipper, but I don't like that much, so...

Image

Barbeque: Infantry

Image

I think a lot of tomes some of the secondary specialties are overlooked, especially with some of the specialists, so I wanted to highlight that BBQ is a firefighter, but also still a soldier.

Tollbooth: USS Flagg ship's engineer

Image

Continuing to staff my Flagg with more Joes

Hourglass: A female spy sort of person... One of my few new sculpt customs that I have been happy with

Image

Glacier: Cobra Polar Mountain Specialist

Image

Because the Snow Serpents need someone to guide them on those glacial ops. I fixed his broken thumb, but had to use borrowed gear. If you have any spare Rock Viper gear, PM me!

Divination BAT: Continued from Beav's Wierd Ass Figure Challenge 2

Image

Basically, I just added a few levers to his back: (you can never have too many left over lightsabres!)

Image

Doctor Wilhelm Mindbender, DDS: Family Practitioner

Image

Odd that H goes and publishes his origin just as I complete my orthodontist version... Hmm. You can't really see from this pic the comb-pver effect he's got goin', or the tiny gold chain coming of the monocle/magnifier... :\

So what do you think? Anything I slopped up too much?

Also - I smoothed out some of the details on my Doc Venom:

So is that the Zap head for "Dr Binder" you were talking about before? Looks great! Of course, you might as well throw it away now, since official Hasbro/Hama canon now proves that Dr. Binder was already bald when working at his family practice in Springfield. Your "ElseWorlds" crap won't fly here, Junior :P

I like the look of Glacier - I also like the idea of a Snow Serpent/Rock Viper hybrid soldier.

The rest all look pretty sweet -- if I ever find a second WW/Ace comic pack, I may have to emulate your Night Raven WW idea in 25A form.

And Venom looks a lot cleaner now.

Cool stuff! -- It was odd not seeing anything blatantly homo-erotic for once - you must be slipping ;)

I LOVE that Wild Weasel. That is seriously nice work and I'd love to see something similar come out in a Convention set.

I like Skipper. Simple but effective. I even like the name.

Not feeling the head on BBQ. To "EXTREME!!1!" and not enough New England. I like the concept though.

Tollbooth makes me laugh, but I'm not sure why. It's not a funny custom. Maybe just his ugly mug. He makes a nice Flagg Crew member.

Hourglass is nice except I don't like the legs. Probably just me.

Glacier is REALLY sweet. I like the idea of him being a cross between a Snow Serpent and a Rock Viper. I hope you have more half and half serpents planned :)

What can I say about the divination BAT that hasn't already been said. That thing is pure GOLD!

And finally Dr. Mindbender. Oh Dr. Mindbender you disco Dentist you  He looks good, but I would personally choose a Shipwreck or Chuckles torso so it wouldn't be so open but I understand where you were going. He looks great with the Playmobil Dentist stuff.

Overall a great batch Lance. I love to see your stuff, it's inspiring.

Wild Weasle looks really sharp...highlighting the details really finishes him off well.

Not quite sure what you're painting around the thigh maps...but I'll trust there's some detail there you're trying to highlight.

Jim Skipper is neat...surprising use for what I classify as a useless head...I love Rampart from his knees to his neck as fodder...you've done well on this one.

BBQ...you need more Cartoon in your life! At first I thought you just went and double used a codename for this guy...figuring the firefighting BBQ retired or somthing... BBQ was given a face...the episode with "the Viper" and a breakdancing Snake Eyes...watch it, learn it well...If you murder my child hood one more time with weird heads on favorite characters who've already had faces decided for them by Marvel Cartoonists it shall be your moment of Doom.

I like ToolBooth...I just checked to see If I've got a spare Cutter...I'll have to make sure I grab another next time I get the chance...that's a great idea for more Flagg top fodder.

There's all sorts of things I don't like about Hourglass...none of them have anything to do with your craftsmanship...I'm really just not a fan of the source materials...

Glacier is an awesome custom and idea...loved it the first time I'd seen it....I'd be interested to see if he'd look better with a matte or flatt finish instead of the gloss black on the furr parts at least. I think you need to mod some Blizzard Crampons for his feet. I know I've got a spare large Rock Viper Gun...I'll dig for a BP...If I find it I'll set it aside for ya.

As always...the Divination BAT is spectacular...the best use of one of those maniquin heads Ever! Not sure where you'd find one...but one of those Red Devo cake pan hats might make a perfect addition.

MIndbender DDS:...great work...the Zap head was definatley the right choice...he's happy and friendly. Did you try a Wild Bill torso? It'd keep the leisure suit vest look...but might get rid of the diving v neck that's on the Tollbooth torso. Mustache looks a little off kilter...but I don't know that I'd so much better.

Venom looks much improved now that you've cleaned up his collar..the eyes are bothering me...but I'll feel bad if they start bothering you now that Ive said anything about them...They kinda look like the pupils are square...like the robots in Futurama...

First off, that Divination BAT still is teh awesomest.

Also, I never thought I'd see a smiley Mindbender but using the Zap head is inspired.

Night Raven Wild Weasel is cool but I'd almost like to see the visor in a metallic bronze. Just to break up the red, black, gray a little more.

I like that color scheme for WW a lot. You need to tighten up you're silver paint a little. There's a few places where it needs to be touched up.

Skipper works too. I went on a DEF/SWAT kick for a while so I cna truly appreciate a character like this.

You say BBQ. I say blasphemy. You receive 20 lashings for raping our childhood memories of the Sunbow cartoon. :D

Tollbooth is such a great idea. So simple and yet works perfectly. Hell I like it better than the original.

Glacier just rocks. I liked him before and I like even more now.

I beleive that would make him a Devonation BAT nyuck, nyuck

I don't think Dr. Mindbender need the monocle. That seems over the top for a dentist. Maybe you could have made it one of those magnifying glasses jewelers use. That way you get the look you are going for but it also gives it a plausible explanation.

all look pretty neat, but I ESPECIALLY like the the polar Rock Viper. I think this could make an awesome GP. Have squadrons based on a particular color scheme.

Wow... thanks for the kind words, gang!

Let's see if I can hit all the points I need hit...

Chief, this is even BEFORE Springfield, Just out of BYU Dentistry School, or whatever, when he still had hair... :P That's why he's got that super cheesy 70's open shirt with the silver chain. ;) And Pluv - that is EXACTLY what I did with the monocle - you just can't tell from the angle of the pic. :( I'm not 100% happy with the mustache either, so I may still end up redoing that. I actually tried the Wild Bill torso first, but it had straps and a holster and stuff, and then I saw the TB torso, and it was JUST what I wanted - the self assured swagger that IS Dr Mindbender...

Umm... Let's see, what else?

Oh yea... heh. Right. Barbeque. I should have expected this, since it's the same thing I got hit with on Airtight. I did not grow up with the toon. We couldn't get it at my house. And I actually did this custom so long ago, I had still never seen that episode. (I would never use a Mindbender part on a custom today), so BBQ was a clean slate for me, and this head actually fits pretty well with how I interpret his file card - the life of the party, all around good guy. That dorkwad Kennedy talkin' goof ball from the toon is like much of the toon for me - a passing curiosity. Breakdancing Snake Eyes is gold though.

So I understand why you might not dig the head, but that's a character interpretation thing for me, and well... it stays ;)

Thanks! I've actually got one done already in the gallery - Ice Burn, the Night Viper Snow Serpent. I've also done a Crimson Serpent, but I don't think I've submitted him yet. I have one or 2 ideas for more, but I try not to rush those too much, and I want to make sure that they can actually be a justified hybrid. (Crimson was a bit of a stretch)

LOL... I actually had to go back and try to figure out where you got "Jim" from, but then I spotted my typo of "him"... But now I sort of like Jim Skipper so... :D

So thanks for the input! And yes, Chief, there will be plenty of what you refer to as 'homo-erotic undertones' coming very shortly, hopefully.

that BAT freaks me out! I'm gonna have nightmares!
EDIT: it reminds of the gang leader robot from robocop 2.
