General Notification
From: Acting President Winters
Subject: The future of the GI Joe team
In days past, the team of special operatives known as GI Joe has been instrumental in our nation's defense against both foreign and domestic terrorists. They have served their country well, and for that, they shall always have our respect and gratitude.
However, times have, unfortunately, changed. As we all know, the GI Joe team was decimated when an anti-matter bomb was detonated within their former headquarters, the Pit. I'm afraid that this horrible tragedy took a far greater toll on the surviving members of the Joe team than we had previously thought. We are living in times that require action, decisiveness, and the strength of will to do what it takes to achieve victory over our greatest enemy, Serpentor. I fear that the Joe team no long possesses these qualities. And to that end, it is my duty as your leader to make the difficult decision to take the remaining members of the GI Joe team off of active duty, effective immediately.
But from the ashes of one team, rises another. I have personally assembled a group of new operatives who shall act in the place of the GI Joe team. They have been hand-picked for a team which we have dubbed the Sigma Six. They shall take over the special operations once managed by the Joe team, and, I have confidence, will help ensure our ability to retake our country from the tyrant, Serpentor.

Encrypted Communication
From: Agent Chuckles
To: Conrad "Duke" Hauser
I've managed to collect some information on the Sigma Six, as you requested. I'm sorry to say, I was unable to get much beyond a cursory write up on each member. General Winters is getting suspicious. We need to be careful, Duke. We've both seen these Sigma kids in action. They're good. Damn good. If Winters decides to turn them on us, I'm not certain our team would survive in the state it's in.
Lt. Stone:
I felt rather counterproductive investigating Stone for you. Everything I uncovered indicated you knew more about him than I did. All I could find on that was that the two of you went on several top secret missions to Africa during the years after the Cobra Civil War, and that the last one ended poorly. He was a former SAS member, one of the few who stood against Destro when ol' tin-head took power. Apparently, he personally attacked the Laird. It didn't go well for him. Destro hit him with both barrels...or wrist gauntlets, I guess...and left him for dead. Someone--God knows who--rescued him and brought him here, to Area 51. Remember back when everyone thought this placed housed dead aliens? If only, huh? Instead, they used their skunk works here to 'repair' him. Other than that, there's not much known about him. He's a capable commander, that's for sure. His only citation on record is a disciplinary action taken after he threw some grunt into a wall for calling him "Robo-Joe."

Mercer:
I don't trust Mercer. Good news is, no one else does, either. Even the other members of the Six seem to feel the need to keep an eye on him at all times. He's a former Cobra Viper, which is no secret. What isn't as well known is
why he left Cobra. He joined up under the original Cobra Commander, and bought into his ideology hook, line, and sinker. The only reason he left the organization was that he didn't feel that either Serpentor nor Fred VII was a worthy successor to his hooded hero. If the old Cobra Commander was still in charge, there's no doubt in my mind Mercer would be shooting at us instead of for us.

Ophelia:
Ophelia's a good kid. Too bad it's only a matter of time before Scarlett murders her. You may remember Ophelia from the New Moon, Colorado mission. She was the daughter of that defecting Crimson Guard we were trying to EVAC. During the escape, when the whole town was burning, she fell and broke her leg and, of course, ol' Snake Eyes jumped to the rescue. He threw himself between her and the enemy, allowing her to crawl to safety. And of course, that's when Nemesis...shoot, I don't want to replay that day any more than you do. What it boils down to is, Snake Eyes gave his life to save her. The kid has a serious sense of hero worship. But Scarlett...well, in her mind, Ophelia is the reason Snake Eyes died. Of course she had no control over the situation, she was barely a teenager when it happened. Not that that matters to Red. And it certainly doesn't help that Ophelia chose the uniform she did. Like I said, Ophelia's a good kid, and she has martial arts skills that Snakes would have been proud of. But it's only a matter of time before she and Scarlett have a serious throw-down.

Heavy Duty:
You and I are both already familiar with Robert "Heavy Duty" Skelton. Before forming the Sigma Six, Winters tried to add him to the Joe team. Since you've already been briefed on him, I won't bother rehashing. But I will add this: That man is a powder keg. And giving him the biggest gun on the battlefield just doesn't seem like a good idea.

Mayday:
I know Storm Shadow is still alive, but even so, I think Mayday might be the deadliest human being around. You sure as hell wouldn't know it to look at her. I guess that works, though. The enemy is never going to suspect that the girl who looks like she should be captain of the cheer squad at a state college is actually a living, breathing starlight scope. I mean no disrespect to Lowlight, but this girl makes him look like Barney Fife, accuracy wise. And not just with a sniper rifle, either. Ever seen someone sharp-shoot with a combat shotgun? It's humbling.

Ghostbear:
Ghostbear is the son of Kwinn, the famous tracker who first gave us so much trouble, and then gave us so much aid, back in the early days of the Joe team. I never had the pleasure of meeting the man, but those who did tell me that, even as an adversary, Kwinn fought with honor...real honor, not the crap that Destro tries to pass off as honor. As far as Ghostbear...who knows? The kid is like one of those Easter Island statues. I'm pretty sure you could go up and stab him and not get a reaction. He fights well, though, so I guess that's what is important.
