Pretty sure it's got something to do with some guy thinking it would be some kinda neat marketing ploy and a good angle to cash in on another piece of 80's nostalgia. And also: Booo. |

I don't recall exactly whom said what, but way back at the Atlanta con we were drinking with the Hasbro designers and they mentioned that they are big MASK fans, and had made some MASK customs, and that they had tried to get Hasbro to re-launch MASK but Hasbro can't relaunch it due to licensing issues with the name "MASK". So I think this is their way of making an homage to something they like. I think it's pretty awesome of them. |

I've seen a mock-up of the filecard, and it says (paraphrasing): "Matt Trakker was asked to join the GI Joe team after it was learned he would be a bane in Lance Sputnik's side, and the designers really hate that guy." |

Really? My sources told me Hasbro was actually honoring a member of the online JOE community that had contributed to the line over the years. The figure will actually be called "Matt Trekker"... |

Thanks, DarkJedi... Seriously, I guess I'm in something of a minority here (so what else is new) that thinks this is a cool idea. I've also heard the story that some of the current creative personnel at Hasbro are MASK fans and would like to relaunch the line, but for various reasons can't, so this is their way of doing a tribute to the concept. Even though I'm not collecting the 25th-style Joes, I DO plan to purchase this figure. I wasn't much of a MASK collector when it was first around (I had neither the money nor the space), but I do have an original Matt Trakker and Myles Mayhem figure, and I enjoyed the concept. I'm looking forward to this figure. |

When G.I. Joe needed to design special power-suits to beat Cobra, only one thing was missing: Special helmets with powers over transforming battle vehicles!!! That's where Specialist Matt Tracker and his son and a robot shaped like a trash-can come in!!! |

Heh, I felt that way about Exo-Squad, too. I kind of regret getting rid of the ones I had, especially the Veritech fighter. I just love my toys being in scale. Always have. Was one of my turn-offs with Transformers initially; the fact that the minibots were not in scale with any of the other figures. I was eventually able to overlook it, but it took a while. I never could do that with 'human' toys, though. I was simply not one of the kids able to mix and match all my toys and use my imagination to get them to work together. |

Joe scaled MASK vehicles, dare we hope? Make more sense than battleforce 2000 ever did. |

Well it's the main reason I made the one I made and have others that I want to do too. If MASK will not get to be it's own line anytime soon, I don't mind them being in G.I.Joe. But I do hope they'll make a few vehicles too if they're going to make some of the characters. So far I know it's just Matt Tracker, but usuaully you'd figure on others showing up. It still goes with the idea I've had where they can do yearly themes for a cartoon. One year can be set in the future and bring in Exo-Squad, another year could even be like MASK. Tons of possible ideas. |

Before I got the new Snow Serpent, I may have agreeed with you. But since that thing is the second or third closest thing to Sputnik Fan Service there is... I must disagree. I still hope to see Specialist Panthro in a future wave though. That would be [LASER BLAST]. |
