Post subject:  Worst Idea for Joe?

Let's hear some of the worst ideas for Joe that got made? Cartoon, Comic or Toy.

I'll start with Cobra-La. There were elements that were good. For the most part it was too much a departure. They were to keep things fresh by changing everything we knew. It's like ordering a hamburger lifting the bun to find a big slab of cold tofu. Play around with the toppings but don't touch the all beef patty.

Armortech. There was so little cool about those figures, that I was mad when I was younger and bought Armorbot with Christmas money and got one of those figures instead of a cool Star Brigade oring Joe.

Single figure/vehicle/character... probably Super Trooper. The guy is dressed in silver/chrome, wears a shield, and is obviously some kind of captain america. Just beyond silly. Chromed shield ffs! :D Read the small Super Trooper comic for further proof.

Worst theme maybe Star Brigade for it's logical fail, or Ninja Force for all its colorful characters with transparent weapons.

Venomous Maximus and the whole VvV theme. The only thing cool that came out of that theme was Dr. Mindbender's laptop/test tube combo and those wrist things the Joes had. A lot of the figures were sweet though.

Im' going to say the handling of the Ig's. The Ig's bothered me then and they bother me know. They should have just replaced cobra all together. Their coupling with Cobra made no sense to me. We have a team that is capable of putting the joes on the ropes, and not being used as such.

The Fridge. Why? Cause we couldn't get Rocky.

20% of 1987 is junk.

Duke. There's simply no need for a Hawk replacement as 'the main guy everyone else rallies around', and having him be a mere enlisted guy is a kick in Hawk's nads.

Your post makes me want to ammend my original one. Rapid Fire is basically a worse version of Super Trooper, who is already a wacky figure for the reasons you mentioned. Though, that isn't to say I don't like either of the figures, I actually do. It's still an awful idea, though.

Maximals (or whatever those things were called). At least Armortech, Eco Warriors, Star Brigade and all the rest were recognizable as GI Joe toys. Maximals look like the bastard child of late-line TMNT toys and those Real Ghost Busters monster figures.

I have to echo this one. Even at $1 clearance prices I couldn't bring myself to pick these guys up. They are that bad. I almost got one at a flea market for .50 cents rcently and still could not justify it.

Letting Devil's Due get their hands on the property.

The DD run gave us a few good things- I'm looking forward to the Wraith figure (if I can ever find one). But, by enlarge, DD produced sloppy stories and muddied the continuity beyond repair.

You can always tell the kids whose parents wouldn't let them do mailaways ;)

And these two words that helped justify some morons job to include a chainsaw sound effect for vehicles: Sound Attack.

Some of my all time least favorite ideas in Joedom (in no particular order):

1) Too many ninja.

2) Spearhead's original color scheme- nothing says "shoot me" like an infantry pointman in bright orange.

3) About 80% of the original cartoon episodes.

4) Lack of character development/"screen time" for about 75% of the characters in any of the media.

5) Serpentor- character had alot of potential but never lived up to it.

6) Cobra's portrayal in media outside of the Marvel comics- if they were really that incompetent, G.I.Joe would not need to exist.

7) The random accessorization of the JvC/VvV/DTC era- at least now we are returning to having character/specialty specific accessories.

8) The lack of "Accessory Packs" in any of the modern lines.

9) Duke

10) Not enough hot Asian chicks- everything in life is better with hot Asian chicks ;)

Mine might sound like a bit of Devils Due bashing but here we go.

Killing off Lady Jaye as a sells gimick when fans were already upset that Devils Due was getting kill crazy on us.

An attempt to have have a GI Joe comic book without Cobra in it as if Cobra fans were somehow not a valid sub-set of the fandom.

Could write a few pages on all the bad stuff from the Joe Casey run on GI Joe.

Getting 25th figures with all sorts of exciting new points of articulation only to find out the elbow movement is insanely limited.

Could likely write a few pages on what was wrong with the Sigma Six cartoon that killed a really cool toy line for GI Joe.

Those black costumes for all the Joes in the live action movie.

Hasbro being so darn hard headed about Transformers getting crossed with everything under the sun except for GI Joe. Odds are better of getting an Indiana Jones Transformer than Prime that transforms into a HISS tank.

I agree with this. What's even crappier is that, if we ever DID get a Joe transformer line, it would most likely be like the Star Wars and Marvel Transformer lines. So we wouldn't get Megatron turning into a HISS and Optimus turning into the Rolling Thunder, we'd get a hideous Cobra Commander robot turning into a HISS and an even uglier Duke robot turning into a Vamp.
