The 25th anniversary line might be designed as a tribute to the original line, but so far there are some crazy inconsistencies that need to be considered:

The HISS driver is a more popular army builder than the Viper?
Snow Job and Torpedo are favourites of the line?
There's only been one trooper released with Viper in his name?

Weird.

The popularity of the 25A Torpedo, Hiss Driver, and Snow Job is due to the great design and sculpting work Hasbro put into them. They are all very noticeable improvements over their '83 counterparts.

As much as I like ARAH figures, these three were a bit on the scrawny side, especially the Hiss Driver. And these were before the right and left feet were even sculpted differently.

As far as the ARAH Viper and the current one, the improvements are still there, but there not as dramatic. The first Viper was very well sculpted when it came out it was bulkier than the first few waves of figures.

We'll see more Viper-based army building once the specialized vipers come out. The Tele-vipers and Snow Serpents (okay, they're technically Eels) will sell like crazy.

You know, I gotta agree that those three figures are popular but I don't know that Torpedo and Snow Job are everyones favorites. My favorite changes a lot. I like the Snow Job and Torpedo bodies for customs because they are so easy to use as other figures. I have Arctic Duke and Arctic Flint right next to Snow Job (in front of actually.)

My favorite right is Snake Eyes V4. What a great figure. I don't exactly dig the hole in his head but I can fix that.

As for why Vipers aren't s popular as we thought they'd be, I have no idea. I went to Target the other day and Wave 7 was out, they had 2 x Jet pack Duke, 1 x SE v4 and 6 x Vipers. I bought all the Vipers, by the way.

I've read ton of complaining about Maj Bludd about the reuse of Zartan, but he's the one I've yet to see in stores, and when my friend got me my set, he was the one figure he didn't have.

How can you even say that? The wave including both figures hasn't even been out for very long. It just now showed up on the shelves of stores near me. I was in Target today and saw two HISS drivers and four Vipers... which is just how they're packed, right? I still haven't seen Wild Bill, though...

Because they have really cool gear! Snow Job was insanely popular in 1983, IIRC. He had more gear than any other figure. Skis! That's cool!

Well, that's because the focus of the series so far has been on earlier stuff. "Viper"-named troops didn't even start until 1985 with Tele-Viper and then 1986+ for the others.

Evidently the humour of this thread was not as obvious as I assumed...

I got it. I'll add one:

THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD!
We have had how many single pack waves? 8? And at least two of them had no Duke or Snake-Eyes.

THE WORLD HAS GONE MAD!
We have seen a million characters get 25th treatment, and still no Crystal Ball or Red Dog!? :O
