I got my wave 7 today & I immediately noticed that some of the cards had much shinier foil logos than the others. Upon closer inspection, the shinier ones are smooth & are embossed which makes them very reflective. As opposed to the old cards which are rough & flat.

Spirit & the HISS Driver both have the shiny version while Snake Eyes & Wild Bill have the old version. I don't know about Duke & the Viper though. The thing is, my wave 7 all came from a single case, so why the different packaging? Major Bludd from wave 8 has the shiny embossed version.

Why change the packaging during the last wave of 25A? And why not all the cards in the wave?

I've actually noticed this problem back to wave 1 of 07. I don't think it's so much a variation as much as a quality control issue. It seems to be spread pretty eavenly through every wave and as far as I can tell almost every case.

Really? It's the first time I've seen this. And looking at the pics online, it seems like most people just have the regular, not-so-reflective, flat foil.

I also don't think it's a quality control issue because it's not really aboutthe quality of the foil used but a different production method (ie embossing) and a different material used (smooth reflective foil).

Hmmm... I had thought it was becuse they were using different cardstock or some thing, but now that you mention it the one on the left does look embossed.

I was wondering about that as well as my Major bludds have that lettering as well.

I have seen this as well. The shinier version seems to be lower quality if you ask me. Some look really good but if the card gets flexed a little, the foil cracks all over the place and looks bad.

I don't know what the deal is, but about a million people on ebay are selling the "rare embossed varient" version of these.

I have a packaging-obsessed friend who pointed out the embossed silver foil a couple of months back on a Rock n Roll he had, and maybe a few others. I noticed it on one of my Vipers the other day. I thought it was kinda neat. Further justifies not opening the Viper! :-D

I got three Vipers today & noticed a variation on the logo in the upper right corner. Two had the 25th logo & 1 had the "from the cartoon" logo. I left one of each on the card.

The ones with the 25A logo are from wave 7.

The one with the "From the Cartoon" logo is from wave 8.
