Anyone else get the e-mail about there only being 600 sets made this year? Wasn't it typically 750/1000 sets yearly?

I wonder if the 25th line has so greatly affected RAH interest, that this is the result. Thoughts?

Is that 600 Boxed sets, or boxed AND bagged?

It could be a mix of 25th popularity and the fact that past ARAH sets are still available years later on MC.com. They are trying to reduce their overstock once the Con has passed.

But that is good news for those of us who are getting these sets. A lower production run will help maintain the value of the sets and the figures.

If it is oxed and bagged, and one were so inclined to break it down, in theory there are only so many of each figure in existance:

Gristle x 600
HH Guard x 1200
HHST x 3600
HH Bat x 3600

Maybe add an extra 5 to 10% for production errors and displays and such.

That is boxed, bagged has been reduced also though.

The BATs seem to be very popular, as one eBay seller's 30 BATs they offered for pre-sale have sold out (BIN or Best Offer). Only sold 2 of the 30 HHSTs have been purchased so far

I copied the following from my e-mail:

The 3 3/4 inch Convention boxed set was reduced from 750 to 600 this
year. There are 350 loose sets in the edition as well. You can purchase
one loose set for each boxed set you purchase. 12 inch sets edition
is 450. There is also an additional Base Camp set that can be added to
your boxed set order and the edition is 200 sets.

Hope this helps.

Also, FYI, I asked about the Sky B.A.T.s to be used in the parachute drop this year:

1) Yes, they will be 3.75"

2) No, you will not get one free with your attendee set. They will be sold like the 8" Red Ninjas last year.

Just a heads up so that you can be disappointed now rather than at the con.

So 950 sets total.

Gristle x 950
HH Guard x 1900
HHST x 5700
HH BAT x 5700

Total in existance. Those are some pretty rare figures.

With the parachute drop figure being sold, are they reserving 1 per box set/ticket purchase? How possible is it to get what I want on Friday in other words. I'll get there before the con opens. I'm just trying to figure out what to expect on what I might want to buy.

it could be they don't have that many people going compared with recent years...

Of course, that assumes that the MC's set numbers are: 1. accurrate and 2. all inclusive of all the figures produced. ;) But, yes, in terms of production numbers, con figures are always among the rarest in the line.

I think the lowered number has everything to do with the fact that the boxed sets haven't sold out since 2002. There just aren't enough people really interested in them to sustain those production numbers. Which, doesn't speak to the popularity of this hobby when you compare it to ~20K numbers for Star Wars exclusives which sell out on the convention floor.

In years past, the paradrop figure was included with purchase of the boxed sets (2002 & 2003, I think). In 2004 there was no paradrop figure. In 2005-2006, I think you got a paradrop figure included if you attended the convention and bought a boxed set (somebody please correct me if this is incorrect). Now, in 2007 and on, you get to pay for the paradrop figure, while the prices of the convention set increases.

Just an observation.

More likely it's the fact that people simply don't want to pay that much more for a box, than what they'd pay if they could just get a bagged set alone without be forced to buy the boxed set too

Nice, we have to pay for a figure that used to be free with the set. If you still want the figure for free, volunteer to do the para-drop. That is how I got my Sigma Para-drop figure for free last year. They give you one for doing the drop.
