Anyone heard anything about these? Apparently Mattels got a pair of playsets coming out in less than a month; and there's next to nothing being said about them.

Here's the best pic I can find of the BatCave one (courtesy of StatueToys.com), nothing yet at all on the Joker's Lair set.
Image

A) Why hasn't anything been said about these from Mattel, at all?
B) Why weren't these shown at Toy Fair?
C) Will the Joker's Lair set come with an 18th Joker fig?

I'm guessing that Entertainment Earth having a set for $18.99while StatueToys and everywhere else I found them listed is the discrepancy between a single set and a case of 3; but I doubt there'll be much of a problem finding these at the stores.

I knew I'd seen something -- a quick search for "X-Pandables" yielded these pics from the back of the "Attack Coupe" (not my pics - I, too, throw away packaging, but I remember seeing them.)

And all the E-Stores I see are selling a case of 3 for $65-75, give or take. I imagine they'll go for $20 or less in the stores (comparable to the Attack Coupe.)

Looking forward to seeing more pics -- but either way, I'll probably get them -- I'm a sucker for playsets.

So, the Joker's Lair doesn't come with a Joker fig? They both come with a Batman? "You can tell it's Mattel, 'cause it's F'n WEAK as hell".

But yeah, I'll prolly get both of them just to support $20 playsets in general.

I'd like to see what these look like in person when they come out, could be good for making little stands to put figures on a shelf, so they don't just look like they're standing at attention.

This is the first I'm hearing about any such playsets. Hope to see more.

They're already out. A member over at Hisstank, got his from Target. $14.99 each.

There is also a Tumbler for these figures, however it is not in scale as the packaging notes. Its actually 1/24-1/25th. It has an opening hatch with enough room to fit a figure but it's still not to scale. Its like some of the Speed Racer products that have a mismatched scales. I was really excited after reading about them on another forum because they also show to offer the Tumbler it in its prototype camo. Oh well.

I'm more interested in the Tumbler with the launching Batpod. It's scaled for the larger figures, and to house that motorcycle. I'm betting that if you pulled out the bike and launching mechanism, a really nice 1/18 scale interior could be built in there.

If you're needing an 18th BatTumbler and don't mind installing the cockpit yourself (and making a hatch for him to get in), look no further than the Tyco R/C BatMobile. Just rip out all the guts and put in your preferred 2-seat 'chair', and it's great. It even has rubber tires.

My Target had these playsets today. Yes, they are $14.99. The "4-in scale" tumbler is $9.99. Also, the Bruce Wayne car with the two figures rang up at $19.99. They also had pegs, but nothing on them, showing 2-packs of 4-in figures for $6.99. I had to buy one of the tumblers just to mess around with, but the playsets just didn't look worth it, especially if I can get Batman in a two pack.

Saw the playsets in person today at Target.

At what point should I get upset about the crap I'm seeing on the shelves?

Seriously, the whole TDK line just isn't wow-ing me. The little Tumbler looked cool, but the figures look like the company isn't even trying.

The playsets are playsets in name only. I'd give them a 'C' just because somebody with some customizing ability could reasonably do something with them.

I saw them too. They each only come with Batman. There's also a 1:18 scale convertible Batmobile that has Batman and Bruce Wayne. It's one of those cars they release in most Batman lines that changes from a regular car to (sort of) a Batmobile. The playsets might be worth it for the Batman figure.

I was thinking the same thing, until I saw the [empty] pegs for the 4" 2-packs, with a cheaper price point of $6.99. I'm willing to bet that Batman will be in atleast one of the cheaper 2-packs, so I'm holding out for those, instead of dropping $15 just to get the figure.

Saw these at Target today and passed -- they looked like crap in person and I already have 2 Batman figs from the Sports Car. They also had the horribly underscaled 1-seater Tumbler and empty pegs for the 2-packs.

I'm interested to see how the 2-packs look. I'm wondering if we'll get Goons? I just wish we could get the Ledger Joker (like the Movie Master fig) rather than the cartoony one from the 5" line. Don't know how much of that fig I'll be able to salvage for a Joker custom (although I guess I just need the torso & legs - the rest I can use parts on hand to fix.)

I imagine we'll see the 2-packs this weekend or early next week. Here's hoping that we get some decent sculpts, anyway.

Was surfing around looking for any pics of the upcoming 2-packs and found this:

Have no idea of the scale, but it looks too big for the figures to be 6" (which the sculpts would suggest.) Either they're "placeholder" pics of figures, or maybe, just maybe, we might see 4" sculpts of the Movie Master figs. I doubt it, but one can always hope.

I have no other information on this thing and I can't even find which site it came from, but I thought I'd share so the speculation could begin.
