If it's anything like the one he gave at last years, I would give it a Hell No to anyone. He sucked at explaining what and why he was doing things.

the extra $115 cost will no doubt put a lot of potential interested parties off.

It is a two day class that will be held the Wednesday and Thrusday before the Convention.

This year we will be offering a two day Sculpting and Casting class led by well-known customizer John (Alyosha) Russell. This will be a two day (Wednesday and Thursday) class where John will teach you beginning and intermediate techniques in sculpting and casting. Projects presented in the class will be sculpting backpacks along with male and female character heads. If you have ever wanted to become a customizer, this is the class for you, as you will leave with the basic skills to make your own custom parts! Cost is $115.

If I were going I would not be going to this class. For two reasons, actually.

1: The cost. I realize it's a two day seminar but seriously, even if I had the disposable income to justify it I don't need to customize that badly.
2: The teacher. After ALL the reviews I read last year about his "class" I know I wouldn't learn anything more than I already know which is to say I don't customize because I suck.

Is what you do called "customizing"? :shifty: :shifty:

What he showed us last time at his class, you could learn from watching vids on YouTube. Actually you would learn more from them. He just ran through the motions of what he was doing, about how much it costs for molding of certain pieces of his :shifty: but he never explained why he did things. Half the time he was talking to his buds anyways.

Sadly, no. It's more like wasting space.

Me and my roomates talked to John last year while picking up some cast stuff from his room. He was a really nice guy and easy to talk to. However, I agree about the seminar he gave last year. It was quite boring and he wasn't a very good presenter. I think I recall he didn't even introduce himself. He just started talking like everyone already knew him. My roomates wanted to go to his second seminar and I passed and did something else.

And didn't I read that these classes would be all day events? 9am-5pm or something like that? I couldn't even hang out in a stripper bar for that long. :) Well, okay maybe I could but not for this class.

PLUS the cost of two more days of hotel fees that aren't at convention rates either.

Justin, there is a reason they charge less for the day shift girls. (Or guys if that is your preference.) Try going at night time. :)

I'll talk to anyone who wants to learn about molding, I'll be charging either a pair of Cross Contry V1 arms or any 25th anv webgear per hour :shifty: .

Seriously thought come ask me I'm always willing to help out anybody. If you would like to know the quality of my work ask anyone who got one of the Snackpack beavers at the Joecanuck con.
