Hey kids,
Be sure to check out Thomas Wheelers latest reviews on http://www.joearmory.com, which include:
1985 Heavy Metal
1986 Devilfish
2001/2002 Fast Blast Viper

Of course, input is always welcomed!

In all honesty, I try to avoid Thomas Wheeler's review articles.

The first one I read of his made my go out and buy the USS Flagg. ;)

But I'll go read it anyway. Even though it will make me want more ARAH stuff.

I LOVE THE DEVIL FISH!!!!

I'm not sure why Trekker dedicated four paragraphs to whether or not it or the other boats float rather than sitting them in one-inch of water in his bathtub (btw they all float) - guess that's what happens when someone that lives in the desert reviews a boat. But it was a fun read nonetheless.

My cousin's had a swimming pool, two Morays and a Hovercraft. I had the Devilfish. The great thing about GI Joe was there was something for everybody's price range. I was perfectly content in their pool to battle their cobra forces with my well armed little boat.

Some people complain that it's not camo, it's orange - but so is our coast guard fleet. Hasn't stopped them from kicking but on the high seas.

Not to go off on a complete tangent... But I gotta respond to this and say that the Night Landing doesn't float. That little bastard sinks like cement shoes.

Agreed! And don't even bring up the Battle Anchor....I mean the Battle Barge.

The article refers to the Hovercraft, Devilfish, and the Moray. That's the "all" I was referring to. I was answering his question. Sorry for the confusion.

No mention of Heavy Metal in #109? Certainly a significant comic appearance.

Otherwise, great job! Sure wish I had a fleet of Devilfish and a squad of Fast Blast.

Responding to a few comments:

Sorry about that, MacrossMaster, but if it helps, I'm just reviewing a couple of figures and a SMALL boat this time... :-D

Stalker, the reason I didn't mention Heavy Metal's later comic appearance was I just decided I didn't want to bring up the "Joe massacre". It just didn't seem entirely appropriate to review a figure and then mention that "Oh, yeah, he and a number of others got blown away in this issue..." Just my own personal choice on the matter.

The Night Landing Craft doesn't float?! I never knew that. Granted, never tried. You're right about someone living in a desert writing a review about a boat, which is probably why I mentioned a Florida vacation. You'll also note I haven't reviewed any ARCTIC vehicles yet, either...! :-/ :-D

I just love to bust your balls Trekker - you know that. With everybody else busting Lance's balls I like to keep it fresh and yet totally oldskool.

Well, actually, my apartment complex has two very decent swimming pools, and I have had a bit of Joe-related fun at them in the past. When I reviewed the G.I.Joe Piranha Attack Boat (the post 2002 model, not the Cobra one), I got several very decent photos of it in the pool.

On another occasion, I decided to see if the working outboard motor that came with the 12" scale G.I.Joe raft worked worth a darn. It did -- right up until you put a 12" G.I.Joe into it, in which case it was generally too heavy or misbalanced the raft (quick -- where's the pool net?!). Amusingly enough, though, that raft did work quite well as a sort of "transport raft" for a group of 3-3/4" figures.

And as far as arctic items are concerned, we do get snow here, admittedly mostly in the mountains. However, we did get snow down at "city level" a number of years ago -- on Easter Sunday, no less. I dragged out every arctic figure I had, including a 12" Star Wars Snowtrooper and a 12" arctic-equipped G.I.Joe, for photographic purposes.

What was really funny was that someone built a rather large snowman near the entrance to the apartment complex, that well outlasted the rest of the snow, which was pretty much gone by noon. I would've loved to have seen the look on the faces of anyone who slept late, didn't realize what had happened, and went out for Easter dinner and saw THAT thing sitting at the entrance... 8-O :-D

Yeah...photographic purposes. That's what I call it too. :shifty:
