After quite a long time there is progress with the Cobra Base reproduction. I have found a place to do print outs. I got some samples and so far I have a fully cut out plastic base. Yep, no cardboard here. This thing is fully plastic and sturdy.

Now I know you're asking how the heck would you bend it to put it together. Yeah that part is where the idea of cardboard is better, but we all know that you can cut or heat plastic to make it work. Plus rather than have the slots to fit the tabs, I'll just cut the tabs off and superglue the thing together. This will allow for a better base anyway.

So later today (tonight) I'll post the fully assembled base. Provided nothing holds me back from doing so. I will be doing a cardboard version as well so that it can be made just like the original for comparison. CabanaJack will be post s well for any further info on the project. I'm handling the build and assembly, he's handling the other parts.

You guys really owe a huge THANK YOU to J_Man for his persistance in finding the technologies to make this happen.

If it was easy it wouldn't have taken so long to develop and someone else would have released it by now.

And to all those whiny beyatches that harassed me these past four years.....I kept a list of you guys in my little VooDoo box of MoJo, but Joe won't let me charge you double. So you owe the J_Man an even bigger thank you for that.

Spin-offs on this playset will include Destro's Castle, The PIT, Ft Wadsworth Motor Pool, and more.

Look for them at the Convention!

Please share your ideas with us on what you would like to see!

How thick is the plastic? Sometimes you can score the sheet with an exacto knife and then bend it along the split without breaking all the way through. Tough though if it's really thin, it'll snap completely!
They might be better in total kit form; either way it's a grail for everyone!

Wow great job on this! Cannot wait to see Castle Destro and the PIT!! Will these be for sale a the Con or previewed? Either way cannot wait!

For other ideas, how about a wharehouse and storeage crates. Zartan's garage/swamp hideout. A shooting range like on the box art from the Cobra's Most Wanted convention set.

Again awsome work and a big thanks!

Good question bullet man! These will be PREVIEWED at the convention, not sold. In fact, Joe can correct me if I'm wrong, I believe due to the relatively high cost and complexibility of printing/assembly of the materials, these sets will be made-to-order only.

However, an added benefit of that all sets will be scalable and customizable (for an added fee). Let's say you want to use Destro's Castle to display your He-Man toys, well Joe can modify the color to green and enlarge the entire castle 25% to fit the larger scale action figures.

DISCLAIMER

This is probably a good time to clarify, J_Man and CJack are producing 3 3/4th scale modular playsets which you can use in dioramas, or as playsets, or display cases compatible with your GI Joes or other action figures.

In order to showcase J_Man's abilities, a copy of my original 1982 Cobra Headquarters base has been produced as a prototype (prototype not for sale). However, the "Base" that will be sold is inspired by the original yet contains a percentage of graphical changes to make it recognizably different from the original under close inspection by someone very familiar with the original. This percentage of changes is great enough to avoid copyright infringment but wouldn't be immediately recognizable by the average collector without holding the original side by side. We won't print GI Joe/Cobra logos on the playsets. However, we may freely distribute a sheet of vinyl stickers containing popular icons with purchase.

Does that sound about right Joe?

When we're talking price prohibitive...

Just how prohibitive are we talking, here?

Whether or not I'll be able to get one, That's great work, you guys.
