Friend of mine at SDCC has been trying to get the G.I. Joe/Transformers set, and was informed that it was "Temporarily Sold Out". Interesting phrase. He's wondering which of the following it's most likely to mean: A) We're completely sold out and we're trying to break it to you gently. B) We're sold out of our allocation today. Try again tomorrow. C) Take your chances on HasbroToyShop when we put them up completely unannounced in a month or so. D) We forgot where we put the rest of the supply we brought with us, but we're trying to find them. Thoughts, anyone? |

In past years, when it was "B", they would say "sold out for the day." So I'm thinking "temporarily sold out" means "sold out, but we're going to see if maybe we can get more, but they might be gone...." But it IS Hasbro, so who the heck knows? |

They usually have 2 "sold outs" - sold out for the day, meaning they sold out what was beought onto the floor from thw tucks out back for that day, and "sold out for the show" meaning they are all gone. Temporarily sold out is most likely sold out for the day. If it was completely gone it would be noted as such. |

I wouldn't read too much into it. The entity that is Hasbro is still just a mass of several individuals. And they may or may not have been told what specific wording to use and that may not even compare to what someone else representing Hasbro said last year. We also know that they need to double check their inventory after SDCC and understandably so. I can only imagine the uncertainty of levels while they are there. |
