This may seem a bit long-winded. Please bear with me.

My father cut down an old pine tree last month. It must have been at least 50 years old, and its branches went the whole way down to the ground. After it was hauled away, there were inches of old pine needles underneath it, and in the pine needles, my father happened upon something unexpected.

My brother and I never lost too many Joes as little kids, this apparently was one of the exceptions. I imagine what is left of Recondo was sitting under that pine tree out in the Pennsylvania elements for about 30 years. This is enough to make me feel downright ponderous.

That's pretty neat.

He looks mad at you for forgetting him for so long. He's waited 30 years, now he's biding his time. Revenge will be his.

Did you at least notice his absence once he 'went underground' to evade COBRA? Where is his bottom half? If he lay in state undisturbed, why wouldn't his lowers still be with him regardless of the o-ring rotting away?

For thirty years in the elements, he's in pretty good shape. Okay, the shirt is discolored, but the swivel arm joints aren't cracked. Give him a bath, find him some legs, and you've got "Been out in the jungle a little too long" Recondo. :D

My brother and I lost the figure when we were probably little older than toddlers. As for the rest of the parts, my dad didn't find any more; he was shovelling up pine needles and Recondo's torso caught his eye.

I thought it held up pretty well, all things considered.

I have a Dusty figure that's buried beside my parents house in a sand pile that's under several, several feet of dirt now. We won't even get into the Joes that got lost in the creek.

I lost Ripcord for about a week one time when he became unattached from the makeshift parachute I made for him. In hindsight that was probably the worst figure to play with outside but I found him and the only time my joes went outside after that was when I took them from the house to the car for long road trips.

And I remember thinking it was horrible that Fred Savage buried his GI Joes in The Boy Who Could Fly.

Oh my god, The Boy Who Could Fly. I think I actually put pee in a water gun after watching that as a kid

I hope you gave Recondo a hero's welcome home. :D
