rouge tiger and I were chit chatting this afternoon and the subject of vapor came up. Does anyone know if this gun was available with another figure?

According to Yo Joe, Vapor didn't come with any accessories. This may be a case of a preproduction figure being used in packaging photography (the figure you posted is also painted differently than the figure on www.yojoe.com.

That is off of the back of the box/package, yes?

Yes, it is the back of the box. I'm aware that the figure was not released with a gun but I was thinking if the mold existed tracking down a few for my vapor figures would be kind of a cool homage to the preproduction elements shown on the box.

I think it came on a few of the Battle Corps sprues, but not in that color. I wanna say I recall it in yellow. I didn't dig it as I felt it was too big, and too yellow.

I was a part of the yojoe.com team at a time in the late 90's when this came up as a huge debate, and there was a guy that claimed up and down that it came with a gun, and he showed pics of his with it. He'd doctored up some packaging (bagged figure) with a Robocop gun, so we were not only able to debunk him on it, but also a couple of people had MISB that went ahead and opened up theirs and showed no guns with them.

I remember as a kid in 1990 buying it and feeling ripped off for it not having the gun in the box.

It would be the same gun that came with Major Storm in the General (and thus, as AV says, on Battle Corps sprues).

I agree with the Major Storm Hypothesis

It always comes back to Robocop's gun, doesn't it?

So I looked up major storms gun and I don't think it was the one as it wasn't available with anyone else. My other two canidates are cold front (available in 1994 with scifi) or 89 snake eyes available in a million colors.

Didn't the Avalanche and Hurricane come out the same year? Was CF pictured with it on his box?

My bad, I was confusing it with the rehash that was Updrafts gun on the sprues. We did conclude it was the Major Storm gun though in the picture. Updrafts has the scope. ANd was on about a dozen sprues.

On a side note the gun on the package always looked like a mash up of Shockwave (88) and Skydive (90) guns. Though the silencer on the front could be from many others out there too. Would be a cool gun to have some cast make for the board.
