Hey guys,

I've been seeing a lot of the cancelled G.I. Joe Jurassic Park figures popping up on EBay (the ones with the tattoos on the face and left bicep). The figure is wearing a big tactical vest (light green) with INGen logo, has a body sculpt like Roadblock with a big machine gun.

They're coming from China, and sell for about $6 each.

Are these low quality knock offs, or the real thing? I see people listing these as wants, but they seem plentiful, so I'm guessing they're lower quality. They look cool, and at $6, would be some nice fodder material if the quality is good.

I'm just curious. It seems too good to be true.

I bought a bunch of the Steel Brigade Deltas from china and they seemed legit. So these are probably fine too.

I bought that same tattoo guy. It was hasbro made, and quality that I could tell.

I've got that tattoo-face guy myself. Definitely Hasbro-made, and as good quality as any other modern-style G.I. Joe.

In my "Joe-verse" I named him "Jurassic Joe", and he was assigned to the G.I. Joe Team to try to restart the Dino Hunters squad after it was discovered that Cobra was meddling with dino DNA again. (Ambush and Low-Light decided they wanted no part of it.)

(And I'd still like to know which really came first -- Michael Crichton's idea for "Jurassic Park", or the G.I. Joe episode "Primordial Plot". There's just a few too many conceptual similarities...)

I have a few of those figures.

One I put on some Hobbit armor, then put the head on top of a Red Dog body.

Surprised it matched up really well.

Excellent, I will order with confidence when I am ready. There are so many of them, I'm not worried about them disappearing. I am focused on my team right now, though.

that is not the case, in my experience anyway! these chinese figures come and go without notice. my team was originally based on a 5 figure nightforce beach head lot, when i ordered they were seemingly everywhere. then gone!

after that my team went for the hulkbuster base bodies/legs that were all over ebay, now they are nowhere!

i missed the newer wild bills that were in cheap lots of 5 and 10. i did score the screwback wildbills though.

i'm just saying if you see a lot of figures from china that you want, go ahead and order it :)

I'm just surprised the dreadlock hair dude hasn't shown up in quantities. Is the tattoo guy so plentiful because he wasn't ever released? I know I've seen the dreadlock guy set at TRU (sometimes missing the head, open front packaging FTW) but I don't recall if I saw the tattoo guy's set.

I do think the tattoo guys ubiquity was because he wasn't released.

On a side note, the sets with the dinos, aka Red Dog head guy and Burn-Out head guy are showing up at TJ Maxx/Marshall's

These are Hasbro. Be aware that the Chinese dealers are selling factory seconds and defects most of the time. In the case of these it may just be over run. I have 3 and the weapons had some funk to them. These defects are rarely noticeable.

I also bought the 10 Wild Bills out of them 8 I could not find the defect, the two defects I saw was one had some funk to one of his lower legs and another had some funk to his nose. Nose funk seems to be a real issue when making figures because I have seen it on the unmasked Crimson Guards from China dealers as well.

It does seem that noses seem to be a sticking point. I've seen a few figures, either with minor flaws to the casting, or extra dabs of paint on the noses. If it means a lower price, no biggie to me. I'll buy it, and either just sand the little dot of paint off, or, I'll just pretend they have a birthmark! I could always pull out the paint, too, if need be.

Only problems I've had with these are bent guns. It's actually a really cool repaint, would've liked to see more available (without having to pay for the giant dino too).

I've bought five of these - one of which fell in battle with my resident dinosaurs (dogs)

The only problem I've noticed is the base of the neck on three of them seem to start looking like the plastic is stressed - a white line is forming similar to what you see when you bend plastic back and forth too many times.
