Hey, back during the days of the Classic Collection, Hasbro turned out a number of vehicles. One of these was a rather sizable vehicle, that I think was some sort of half-track. I've been trying to remember the name of the thing.

Not sure why I was thinking about it recently, except I have this memory of seeing it at Toys "R" Us, and this father employed his two young sons to carry it to the cash register. It was too big for just one of them to get a decent hold.

Anybody recall this item, and it's name?

Not a halftrack but figured I see if this is the one anyway.

That MAY be it, but I'd swear the one I used to have was tan, and if the text with that auction is right, then there never was a tan one. Maybe I'm thinking of something else entirely. I've sold off most of the 12" Classic Collection, including all but one vehicle. Not sure why this is bugging me, but it is.

And unfortunately, I haven't had any luck tracking down an extensive database for the Classic Collection, either. YoJoe is limited to 12" stuff that was based on 3-3/4" figures.

Could it have been this?

The author of the article shouldn't be too difficult for you to get a hold of. ;-)

By golly I think he may have figured out the riddle. The GI Joe M3 Tank Destroyer was released in 2001 and seems to meet all of the memories you named.

And he definitely owned one of these, since he was the one who wrote the linked article.

Also this part of the review stood out:
Quote:
It's heavy enough so that one time, not long after it came out, I saw a father with two small boys buying one, and it took both boys to carry the thing to the cash register. Granted, part of this was because of its size, and I still think this was a near-violation of child labor laws... But the M3 is not a lightweight or fragile item.

Oh, for the love of...

(A) -- Yes, that's the vehicle I was thinking of.

(B) -- Wow, was that embarrassing.

(C) -- That part of the article that stood out -- about the two boys carrying one -- was what was getting my attention, because I definitely remember that.

(D) -- Thank you.

No problem Trekker!

We're all getting older and more forgetful, just appears that some are getting there a little more quickly. :-P

One thing I definitely haven't forgotten is, when I ultimately decided to sell that thing, what it took to actually package it decently. BIIIIIG box...

The buyer was very pleased, however. It not only showed up in perfect condition, but he was nice enough to send me pictures of it. He was using it in some sort of photo-diorama, and included some very impressive pictures. It was nice of him to send those pics to me, and I was pleased that this massive vehicle was finally seeing some decent use instead of just sitting around my apartment where I was trying not to trip over it all the time.

That is way cool.
It's always nice to know when you get rid of a piece of your collection that it is going to someone who will enjoy it as much, if not more, than you did.
I've given stuff away for that exact reason alone.
