Rattler Transformer!

http://tformers.com/ig.php?mode=view&album=25907&pic=329541_TRA_LEGENDS_WV3_VIPER_8.jpg&dispsize=600&start=0&sl=toy-fair-2015-generations-legends-assortment-official-photos-of-viper-warpath-and-groove

I know people are going to complain "BUT IT'S NOT JOE SCALE! ", but I think it's pretty cool we're getting an official transforming Rattler, complete with the correct logos.

I like this. The Club's Joe/TF figures I fear will be hard to get for Joefans so I'm glad to see Hasbro doing something like this themselves. Plus it hopefully opens the door for more obvious crossovers if this one does well.

In light of Hasbro's complete and utter disrespect shown to the 18th collectors that got them where they are today, I'm in no mood for pittances.

Given the complete lack of actual GIJoe product, this appears it will be the only GIJoe related item I get new this year. But it's fine, I have accepted the situation. On the bright side, I have always been passing Transformers fan. I gravitated to all of the product that were updated versions of the G1 toys. The Classics and Generations toys have been create. But holy cow, Combiner Wars is shooting for the stars. There isn't anything in the lineup I don't like. I will be getting everything from that series this year. Can't wait for Devastator. This one I have been waiting years for.

Hasbro warned us a couple of months back that there would be no Joe stuff at Toyfair and that they would be rolling out the 2015 line at JoeCon this year. The new brand manager, Mark Weber, had this to say:

Quote:
In his first interview we get our first confirmation that G.I. Joe will be alive and well in 2015!

“For the most part, our biggest plans will be centered around future entertainment – the kind of stuff I can’t talk about just yet. We are finalizing our 2015 plans and expect to deliver a lineup constructively similar to 2014 – with popular characters and vehicles, as well as a few NEW Surprises. If things go as planned, we will have an update to reveal at JoeCon in Springfield.”

“We want to have stronger, more consistent dialogue with the collectors and fans. We want collectors to have NEW vehicles and playsets to energize the brand to a new generation of kids and a fantastic new feature film that is faithful to the soul of the brand (action, fun, weapons, vehicles). Two things I want to prioritize right away – I want to enable and simplify army building for Collectors, and I want the file cards to be brilliant for our characters.”

So don't despair, there will be new stuff in 2015, they just got a bit of a late start.

I didn't realize until seeing the official press images, but Viper has a new head sculpt based on Wild Weasel's helmet!

I was excited for a brief moment, but then I saw this is just a re-colored A-10. Meh.

Mark Weber's words are kind of encouraging, though.

I'll be getting Viper and Titan Devastator will (hopefully) be wielding him in cannon mode.

The engines are in the wrong place. It is a warthog, which is cool, but it is not a Rattler.

I am sure that there will be a fans project replacement wing set available for $60 bucks in less than a year that will correct.

Also, I would hate to get hit with a fist missile, that just sounds painful.

It's not meant to be a Rattler. It's a Transformer with G.I. Joe markings and I for one am excited for it.

This exactly. Hasbro is actually letting the two brand streams cross. Sure, there've been homages to Joe vehicles in the past, but this is the first retail release of a TF with a Joe or Cobra logo on it that I'm aware of. Maybe it'll open the doors to let other crossovers happen.

It's a ground attack-style aircraft in Cobra Blue with Cobra Air Force markings on it and you're saying it's not supposed to be a Rattler? Ok.

It's meant to invoke the Rattler, but not actually be it, since it's just a remold/recolor of the new Powerglide figure (with a new head made to look like Wild Weasel, woot!) The fact Hasbro is even letting the Cobra logos be used is incredible.

I've got two good reasons to get this when it comes out.

(1) - It's an A-10, which certainly served as the basis for the Rattler, even if the two planes have some distinct differences. And A-10's operate out of Tucson's Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. I'm a huge fan of this plane.

(2) - It's as much of a G.I. Joe-Transformers crossover as I believe we've ever seen at the conventional retail level, and seeing as how I'm a fan of both concepts -- oh, yeah, I want this plane.
