Wasn't the problem that there was some unfixable issue with the tools? |

I believe the tooling for the wheels was damaged beyond repair and would have cost too much to replace. |

see i recall that too, but now i wonder was it the working wheels for the mauler that were the problem? If so why not use the non working treads of the equalizer. |

The non-working Equalizer treads are probably part of a completely different tooling set and not available at the time the Club was making the Maulers. |

I was thinking it had to do with the turret itself...... |

I thought it was the wheels, too. I remember something about the bogey wheels being cracked or something. |

It was the wheels which the Club was going to cover the price on the remake but the turret mold was broke and would cost too much to remake... http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-joe-t ... auler.html |

I knew there was more to it than just the bogey wheels but I couldn't recall exactly what it was. |

Well, maybe the Equalizer mold was lost in its entirety? |

Forget the club, that is a great Equalizer. I always liked it too, but haven't ever gotten one. Loved seeing it taken out of the box and finally assembled all these years later. Fantastic! |

yeah it was a lot of fun. brought back some great memories. Though I will say I was worried about breaking parts of it t times. That is too bad about the turret, anyone know how many parts are in that sucker? |

Really one of my favorite vehicles now and I only discovered it as an adult. I customized one to look like the Chinese Type 95 anti-air vehicles in Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction. |

I've always liked the Equalizer. It was like a more bad@$$ version of the Mauler, with all that additional stuff on the turret. and that certainly fit the motif for a team led by Sgt. Slaughter! Congrats on getting such a cool tank, danielb! It's a shame the Club was unable to produce the Mauler, but it's a sad fact that molds go missing or get damaged over the years, especially when there's no apparent prospect of future use. And I've even heard of some instances of intentional -- well, call it sabotage. Although I've never been directly involved with the Club insofar as getting parts and molds rounded up for use in a Convention offering or whatever, some of the stories I've heard over the years indirectly have made me very glad that I HAVEN'T been involved. |
