A rather cryptic message greeted anyone logging into the Joe Battleground app today, indicating that there would be no new content as of today, and that operations would cease in January. You only have until the 15th to spend any battle coins, so if you haven't, you should, as no refunds will be available.

I went all in to play this game, and while it was a little tedious sometimes, it brought some of the newest and coolest stuff to Joe that we were seeing in a mostly dead time for the product. The game had a bunch of problems, and a few rough patches, but ultimately had beautiful art, and was a fun time.

In the time before it shuts down, you can get flag points easier, and turning them in for gold tokens always nets you rares and legendary cards. I am going to stick around as long as I can and get the legendaries I missed, and be sure to screen grab as much of the artwork as I can.

I am kind of upset about this. I only hope that Hasbro has a replacement in mind and pulled the plug for that reason. With very little new product and almost no media, I am feeling down about the brand.

Ditto your disappointment, Raps.

I had taken much of October off as it felt like a lazy way to get folks to spend on flag points. And now anyone who did is basically just watching their shiny new Legendaries rust in the driveway for the next few months.

I was really looking forward to jumping back in all re-energized and refreshed from the hiatus.

Now I probably won't bother.

I tried the game and didn't "get" it. Kinda boring though I did enjoy the card collecting. Just couldn't bring myself to delete the app though.

It was a cash suck from the beginning. If you didn't pour money into it, you never really elevated. Then the repetitive game play. Not bad as far as time wasters go. Loved the art for it though. You could tell they were pulling the vents and art form the entire history of GI Joe which was cool. I considered it like the IDW comics, not something I personally like, but I'm glad it exists for other people.

I loved the art. But I got bored of it quickly.

The game could have (and maybe should have) been so much better. It seems they just took their standard game template and added different artwork. It was boring and repetitive. There are just so many other better mobile device games out there worth playing.

Has anyone played their transformers game?

I tried it because they offered me 200 in-game currency to do so, and it's not bad.

Maybe it's because I have less of a personal attachment to the property or maybe it's juust a better built game, but for some reason I can see myslef killing fifteen minutes here or there with it and never worrying about my ranking or feeling compelled to spend a dime.

I never played this game, but the art was awesome! I'd love to see all the art collected on one site (maybe that already exsists).
I did have the Transformers game downloaded for a time and would play it occassionally, but never got too into it. these are just not the sort of games I am into.

http://gijoebattleground.wikia.com/wiki ... round_Wiki

You'll find most of the art on the Wiki, but I am trying to capture the art for posterity.

In the few months before they close, I am trying to get a picture of every card in my collection and scrambling to grab the Legendary and Epic tough to finds that I don't already have.

Maybe some day I'll turn it into a paper card game for myself based on the original game. Since tweaking this sort of thing is my second job, I already have a number of ideas about how it could be hardcopied and pivoted from the original model.

The only real problem I have is that a lot of the art is animated on the epic and legendary cards. I have no idea how to capture that on my Iphone. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
