So I got my mini HISS from Amazon today. It's a nice little tank, with all the features of the traditional HISS, including opening canopy, rotating and elevating cannons, dumbbell wheels, and even the tow hook, plus the added bonus of integrated lights and sound. There's a barely noticeable button on the control side of the cannons that triggers two LEDs in the cannons and a firing sound.
The lights and sound gimmick is hidden in this thing better than most toys twice its size. It is a bit bigger than I expected, but still really nice. Hopefully we see some more releases like this. For me, I think I'll be displaying it with my legends or scout sized Transformers.

What's the scale? Would it fit among 1" tall miniatures?

I'd say it would fit with the 1" figures. It's roughly 1:72, I think, maybe a bit over-sized. It's close enough of a fit that it's going in my Cyberverse Metroplex display so Cobra can fight alongside the Decepticons.
Oh! And it includes blueprints, stickers to apply, and a neat little book that's a collection of filecards of key Joes and Cobras. It's really a neat little thing for GI Joe collectors.

Neat!
I have a few minis that need a cool tank.

Here are some quick pics of it. Didn't grab any for scale reference, but I can if you'd like.

I'm very impressed with it. Not sure if I'll put the decals on, but I love it so far.

Lack of self control being a factor, here's a scale picture vs an Alley Viper, 6" Boba Fett, and Hot Wheels go-kart w/Lego minifig.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for adding the pics. Swamped here right now, so I didn't have time to get any lined up. It really is just the regular HISS "scaled down". I'd love to see more vehicles in this size/scale. Now I've gotta make a li'l HISS Tank Driver to put in mine.

Just got mine, too, and I'm amazed by it! Dunno who Running Press is or why they decided to make a bunch of nostalgic mini toys to go with some interesting (yet tiny) picture books, but I'm glad they did. Best part is, the HISS is almost in-scale with the ERTL diecast vehicles from the days of yore!

Might as well add to the pics. This thing is pretty cool.

Put some Star Wars Micro Machines figures in it.

Stickers on. Holy hell, you will need tweezers.

Still waiting on mine. Seeing all these pics has me thinking about ordering another one. Maybe 2 more.

I ordered three: two to open and one to display. The display one is taunting me to cut the tape.

Nice pic pluv. I like seeing those side by side. Mine just arrived. It's pretty cool. I ordered a couple more. I'm thinking mini HISS brigade.
