After seeing the new mini-HISS, I can't help wishing we had a line of Hot Wheels type or Micro Machines GIJOE vehicles.

I'd love to see a nice deluxe package containing 12 vehicles sold at various stores.

I know Mattel and Hot Wheels have had a few tanks, so doing up a MOBAT or Mauler could be relatively simple.

Once a VAMP was done, we could get pretty much all versions of the VAMP. (Stinger, Desert Striker, etc)

Maybe a RAM too.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, I figure a deal between Mattel and Hasbro for G.I. Joe Hot Wheels cars comes under the same approximate odds as "hell freezing over".

On the other hand, Hasbro does have the MicroMachines name -- even if they haven't done anything with it for years -- and they have done diecast cars in the past.

I think it'd be cool. Take a look at the die-cast aisle sometime and see all the themed stuff that Mattel is doing with Hot Wheels. Just in the regular "blue-card" section, I've found, over the past couple of months, a Flintstones car, a Jetsons car, the Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine, Herbie the Love Bug, and the one that really surprised me -- Snoopy on his doghouse, which had been converted to a dragster! There's reportedly a Simpsons car out there as well. A friend of mine wants that, but I've had no luck with it. Heck, he's even offered a bounty.

In more specialized cars from Hot Wheels, with their own distinct packaging, I've seen Hanna-Barbera cartoons, Star Trek, Archie, various candy bars, old video games, DC Comics, and a recent line of Spider-Man cars! There's reports of a Star Wars line in the works.

So why NOT some G.I. Joe vehicles at the approximate Hot Wheels scale? I'd buy 'em.

There was a VAMP, RAM and another vehicle (part of me says MOBAT, the other part says HAL) that were roughly Hot Wheels scaled back in the beginning of the Joe line, I'm sure it could be redone, even under a different house. Hot Wheels and Matchbox might have the name, but there are many outfits out there making die cast cars in that scale. Getting a mini-VAMP would be cool, but also doing like Hot Wheels does with regular cars with brand names all over them would be cool, maybe to represent the figures with card art or something.

Someone brought prototypes for the unproduced GI Joe Titanium series vehicles to the Joe Declassified booth at Joe Con this year. HISS, Whale, Sky Striker, Dragonfly, MOBAT.

Well, not exactly what you had in mind, but we did have these:

There were other sets and some playsets, too.

This guy is making some Hiss, Vamp and Fang for 28 mm miniatures.

I think that a whole line of GI Joe mini vehicles and figures could be successful with both table gamers and collectors.
Hasbro owns Wizards of the Coast so I'm surprised that there's no official GI Joe wargame or RPG available.
The could use the Heroclix sale model and sell pre-painted figures in starter packs of 5, sell blind booster packs and boxed vehicles.
Might be a fun way to bring back the brand into kids' hands. If they don't really know what to do with an action figure anymore, they might enjoy a competitive game.

Buy the figures, trade with your friends and get the latest mission scenario!

Redmao has some interesting points. Why not a G.I. Joe game through Wizards of the Coast, that used vehicle miniatures?

And it's a really unfortunate commentary that kids "don't really know what to do with an action figure anymore" -- but it's hard to argue the point. :(

Hot Wheels sounds like something that would/could work well thru ShapeWays, imho. A standardized 4wheel 'skateboard' bottom with a library of one-piece shell uppers to individuate them sounds like it's right up a 3D printshop's alley.

I think there's money to be made in a good miniature game.
While Boss Fight's kickstarter is currently at about $175,000 since it started, Zombicide's new KS project that launched today is already at $383,000.

Is there really a market for them? I'd much rather buy figures or properly scaled vehicles

I wouldn't be into a miniature game, but if they ever did a Skylanders style game with Joe stuff, I'd be all over it.

That is what they have to do to get kids interested again.

I also don't understand why we haven't gotten any Dungeons & Dragons 1/18th scale figures. It's like Hasbro can't communicate within it's own properties/departments.

I'm considering setting up a Shapeways page. I've got the 3D printer and will be able to make various things, but of course they have the higher end printer. I'm coming along fairly well with learning 3D design, so I may as well take it to that next level. Not sure yet what I will set up, but when I figure it out, that will be when I'll set up the page.

I've been going back and forth on modding a D&D/D20 Modern - G.I. Joe table top RPG, but every time I get started something comes up and stalls me. I'd love to see Hasbro do a Joe RPG.
As for the vehicles, they'd be great.
