There was a plastic tube that went from the back of the helmet to the top of the backpack.

Thanks for the link. Any idea what it's for? If it was real world.

I always thought it was an oxygen tank.

Makes sense to have an O2 tank on a wilderness trooper. :whistling:

Maybe for high altitudes, or caves with mold? :-|

Or for when using gas weapons against the enemy?

Nothing about a Range Viper makes sense for a wilderness troop.

But I like the "endurance and recovery" thinking.

Cobra could have something like *bacta*, but in a gas form. You breath in and it helps with muscle repair, getting the most efficient use of air with every breath.

Essentially the Range-Vipers would be like a NFL player sitting on the sidelines breathing (pure) oxygen to recover from returning a kickoff for a touchdown after running it out of the end zone and evading the defenders. The oxygen also clears the head, allowing for better decisions, situational awareness, and less battle fatigue.

It's a hydration tank, the pressurized tank on the backpack is a pee recycler.

I always assumed it was a computer cable/power supply. I figure the helmet had electronics inside such as a HUD and other read outs like that. Back in that time we didn't have little tiny power supplies and small solar panels for power that could be self contained in the helmet. Now of course we wouldn't have to see huge backpacks with power supplies inside, so it wouldn't hold up to the test of time.

Agreed on that. I think he was intended to be some other character. The brain-like helmet, the skull-like face, the bright blue w/ yellow trimmed shirt, the ammo belt for a gun he doesn't have all make for an odd wilderness trooper look.
