I finally got around to opening my Ultimate Flint and man.....what a let down. That permanent scarf thing just about ruined all my ideas for customs for this figure. The photos on the packaging do not match reality. Glad I didn't pop off and buy a half dozen of these guys.

Agreed. I was already pissed that he has those stupid trooper legs with the useless ankles. And using the Mouse torso pretty much means that his head, arms and guns will end up on some other custom.

What really sucks is that the digital pattern paint apps are awesome - but wasted on those stupid lower legs. :-/

Yeah, those ankles pretty much limit you to those ankles. Not much customizing to be had there.

"Ultimate Flint" doesn't have a beret...
I guess since people asked so much about the darn gloves during the 25A days that they figured they were Flint's key feature.

Agreed on the legs and on the stoopid scarf collar being direct on the figure itself.

Probably would agree the collar is the biggest complaint for me also. If it's only useful when wearing the vest, why not make it part of the vest and not the figure?

I don't even understand what the collar 'is', yknowumsayin'? Best I figure it acts like the big collar football (or 'armored wankball' for the non-Americans out there) linebackers wear to prevent their necks being snapped in a tackle. I assume it helps Flint in similar manner when he lands, but that doesn't explain why Mouse had it. I don't recall him coming with a parachute, at least. If it's just big poofy shirt fabric, that crap mold needs to be burned and both the sculptor and team 'editor' told to quit drinking on the job.

Chief, does that collar in any way mirror real equipment? To me it looks like a wind-breaker collar, the kind with the hood that zips up inside it.

Reminds me of this for some reason.

It resembles a very scaled down scarf that is used by desert operatives.

It's the same torso (and legs) as the Retaliation Joe Trooper that everyone drools over so I don't see the big problem here. Yeah it's part of the torso sculpt but it shouldn't be too hard to cut it off if it bothers you that much.

I want those two figures for very different reasons. The Joe trooper I want as an army builder and really have no intentions of using it without the webgear it came with or without the Mouse/Ult Flint/Ult Duke webgear. I wanted the Ultimate Flint figure for the vesatility of the short sleeve t-shirt torso to be able to be used with perhaps just a belt, just a bandolier, or a variety of other web gear. I don't think it will work with most webgear and I don't think it can be cut off without being obvious if that area of the figure will be exposed. I probably would not have cared if the photo on the package did not show him without it. My mind was racing with ideas that were squashed.

As for the legs and ankle, I like them, I think they are a good look and the camo is awesome, but I would prefer the standard foot so I have more options with footwear/boots for customizing purposes. Thats why I love the Renegades line. The long pants of Duke, Tunnel Rat, and the Cobra Trooper with the older style feet make for tons of customizing possibilities.

I honestly don't like it for the trooper either, but like Dusty said, I'd be more likely to just leave the web gear on the trooper.

If I were collecting only it also wouldn't bother me as much.

I cut one off and if I'm remembering right it was not a complete sculpt underneath it either.

It's a weird piece: it's a plug that fits into the chest (in a similar way that the ball-necked ARAH figures' heads did, but without the ability to move), and there's a separate, glued-in piece that forms the figure's neck. I haven't tried to alter one, but it would be a bit of a challenge: you could sand or shave it down into some sort of collar, I guess, or you could get really ambitious and scratch-build a neck for the figure by filling the hole in the chest and building upward. Or, if you just hate the way that particular scarf looks, you could pop the chest open and replace it with the one from the Joe Trooper (it's the same chest mold).

I've always thought the Joe Trooper was over-rated, too. Best part of it is the mohawked Robert Patrick head. But what frickin' professional soldier is gonna go into combat with low-water pants that are near-certain to catch on the bottom of his heel and cause him to stumble? That ankle joint looks terrible (since you should *always* put artic cuts where clothing breaks when possible), and it makes no tactical sense.

/then you've got the idiocy of 'generic elite' soldiers, too!
//it's a triple-threat of Fail, imho.

"Ultimate Flint" is horrible as Flint, but a good figure as "Agent DJ". I'm just using him as Agent Mouse's partner. At least he can hold his weapons, unlike Ultimate Duke.
