The latest issue of the Joe Declassified Magazine is up for download (pdf).... and it's free!!!!!

CLICK HERE to get the download link: http://www.joedeclassified.com/?p=887

This issue revolves around the highly unforgettable (often criticized..... ok..... mostly criticized) era of
STAR BRIGADE. Love it or (probably) despise it.... this otherworldly incarnation of GI JOE has a lot of history behind it that is quite pertinent as it hovers at the end of the ARAH line for (what some at Hasbro thought would be) better or (as far as some collectors are concerned) worse.

Kirk Bozigian is our featured guest writer for this issue!! Also inside you'll find images and articles about unproduced Star Brigade concepts. Some images which have either never been made public before or are of items that, until now, have only been available to the public in Declassified Booths at conventions. The mysterious "War Dog", the four-armed "Thrasher," the mind-boggling Replicators.... and much more!!!!!

It's a very large pdf file so be ready for that. And make sure you look VERY closely at the cover. VERY closely.
Closer. Closer. There you go.

There's also a Star Brigade picture checklist for your convenience in case you read the issue and decide that maybe you have some room for bulky, neon madness on your shelves!!!!!

Here is the link again just in case you're a Lunartix Alien who reads bottom to top: http://www.joedeclassified.com/?p=887

Just read it - there is some fantastic information in there. Thanks a lot, guys. The explanation of how Star Brigade came into being was very interesting, and kind of sadly amusing how much it seems the in-house guys had to try to prove themselves against the newly acquired Kenner. Keep up the good work.

The whole thing is a great read, but Kirk Bozigian's article on the origins of Star Brigade is a must read. Anyone who [LASER BLAST] about the neon colors and spring loaded missles of the 1990's needs to read it to understand these decisions were done for a reason and not arbitrarily.

If you find the article interesting and want to know more about the decisions that shaped GI Joe's direction during that time, I highly recommend tracking down "Toy Wars" by G. Wayne Miller, it's essential reading for any fan of GI Joe. Plus, it was fun to ask a Hasbro employee about where all of the Flubber was buried during the tour at Joecon in 2010.

"Toy Wars" is a fascinating book for anyone that wants to know just how competitive (I'm trying not to use the word "vicious") the business side of the toy world can be, and the events it focuses on take place during the tumultuous years when Hasbro acquired Kenner. There's even mention of the 1994 G.I. Joe Convention in New York City on the USS Intrepid, and the dinner at Hasbro's New York offices.
