You know those characters that just go together?

Like Bazooka and Alpine. Or Flint and Lady Jaye. Or Shipwreck and Snake-Eyes (see Pyramid of Darkness).

Who do you see as indelible duos?

On the other hand, who's like oil and water? Birds of an unlike feather?

Flint versus Zartan, Snake Eyes versus Storm Shadow and Duke versus Cobra Commander come to mind.

What do you say?

Mutt vs Buzzer

I always had Beachhead and Firefly as mortal enemies.

Thanks to the comic I always had Firefly and Scrap-Iron working together as well as Beach Head and Wetsuit.

Had Zartan and Ripcord as mortal enemies.

I always paired them up according to when I got them, usually at the same time. And/or it was also usually my favorites from the year.

Flint/Recondo
Beachhead/Low Light
Baroness/Buzzer

Sometimes they were sort of odd pairings...

I had most of the comic/cartoon duos and enemies you guys did. Except Footloose, joined Bazooka and Alpine as a trio.

The other ones were Muskrat and Sgt. Slaughter. Slaughter drove the Warthog and Muskrat was always his gunner.

Scoop was always by General Hawk's side capturing every moment. he also served as Hawk's personal Comm guy.

Hit & Run and Shockwave were a two man fire team I put together based on their codenames. One guy popping in, dropping a guy here, dropping a guy there, and disappearing. Meanwhile the other guy would storm through laying down heavy fire and taking out people all over the place all at once.

My favorite tandem was Snow Serpent and Blowtorch as the GI Joe wrestling tag team champs

As a kid I often paired the following:
Outback and Rock & Roll V2. Two tough mercs on a rampage for justice.

Falcon and Storm Shadow V2, the former became the latter after training in the mountains. An ex-special force soldier living as a mechanic had to stand against an evil criminal empire. After a terrible fight against Cobra Commander, he was left for dead in an alley so he escaped in the mountains to train in the ways of the ninja and became the White Tiger.

Mutt and Blowtorch, because I got them at the same time and both had face masks.

Tomax and Xamot. :shifty:

Bazooka and Alpine have to always hang because of the cartoon (GF's son and I, when asked if we want something for a snack or dessert will say, "Fudgies!" The cartoon really made Bazooka a character.) Also, Wet-Suit and Leatherneck because of the cartoon.

Because they were my first two and I got them at the same time, Rock & Roll and Gung-Ho always hang out together. R&R was the laid back surfer dude and GH was the gruff hot-head always getting frustrated at him for not taking things seriously.

Mutt and Law always hung out together because of their dogs, and Mutt and Croc Master were bitter enemies because Croc would feed dogs to his crocs.

For generics, I always had my Tele-viper and my Techno-viper working together as a kid. It just made sense.

For my main rivalry, Scrap Iron and Tripwire were at odds because Scrap-Iron was a perfectionist and Tripwire was such a bumbler, yet always able to foil SI's bomb plots. (I think on more than a few occasions, TW tossed one of his backpack mines like a frisbee to deflect/detonate SI's missiles.)

Based on their friendship in the Marvel comics I have Rock 'n' Roll and Clutch as best buds.

For an oddball couple, I always linked Interrogator and Night Vulture. I got them in the same lot and have just always viewed them as a pair.

I've also always paired up the Tiger Force Outback with the Funskool Beach Head. The mix of bright orange and lime green was a visual treat so those characters always ended up together.

I always liked to put Backblast and Repeater together because of their goofy dialogue about kicking butt together in that one Marvel issue.

How 'bout for enemies: Doc and Destro, Mindbender and Lifeline. BATs and Sgt. Slaughter.

Teams that we've all done: Lampreys and EELs. Stinger Driver and Cobra Officer. Zarana and Road Pig.

I believe that was actually Backblast and Rampart.

I didn't have Clutch or Alpine as a kid so Rock n' Roll paired with Repeater and then Bazooka and Footloose. The former would tool around a lot in a stripped down Thundermachine that acted as a normal car. Roadpig and Zarana were always after them on the Drednok trike.

Zandar was a favorite character of mine as a kid (I treated him more like a mercenary with a heart of gold) and for some reason he and Lady Jayehung out a lot.

And based on one scene in the comic, Law was Zanzibar's nemesis.

I don't have any of my own that spring to mind, but I do have a fondness for the odd couple pairing of Psyche-Out and Outback from that one issue of European Missions.

I like grouping characters together, like the Marines or SEALs, but as for pairings:
Leatherneck and Wet Suit, I love their banter in the 'toon, a definite highlight of the second season.
Mutt/Junkyard and Law/Order
Alpine and Bazooka
Low Light and Beach Head, I'm amazed how many pictures I've taken of these two paired
Flint and Lady Jaye
Snake Eyes and Scarlett
DG Snake Eyes and DG Storm Shadow (aka Good Storm Shadow)
Jinx and Kamakura
Airborne and Hit & Run (S&R team)
Recondo and Outback
Dr. Venom, Dr. Rex and Dr. Mindbender
The four Adventure Team guys
Dial Tone and Mainframe, I actually paired these guys before the 2nd season showed them together
Sgt. Slaughter and Beach Head when training Green Shirts
Shockwave and Shockblast, two different ME versions, two different characters

As far as versus:
Sgt. Slaughter v Big Boa
Firefly v Wreckage
Jinx v Vypra
SE v SS
Gung Ho v Horror Show
