In the first scene where he talks to him it sounded like he called him Zandar. Was my ears just wishfully thinking things?

Nope - totally supposed to be Zandar. Even credited that way, iirc.

Maybe this bodes well for the third movie.

If there's Zandar, there could be more 'Noks.

It's a damn shame that Trevor Goddard passed away as he would have made one hell of a Ripper.

Kano from the MK movie is dead? that sucks to learn.

Johnny Cage from that movie plays Stiles' dad on MTV's Teen Wolf series. It's trippy to watch him on it.

well I think the nanites might be able to keep Zartan alive too.... so here is hoping they let him show back up later. They could evn get a different actor/actors saying he's too jacked up to look normal again...

Bingo. Nanites cause him to have to change appearance often which leads to multiple personality disorder.
