I was looking at Wave 2 on ebay and found something odd. A Dollar General Duke in tan with bronze details.

I do not see any other Dollar General Joes that seem to vary from the two schemes that we are used to.

Another odd thing is several of the stores around me have been pulling their Joe peg when they do their resets of the section and they do not seem to be restocking when they run out.

Looks gray to me, which I'm told is Wave 2...

yeah he replied that it was gray so it must be the lighting. But it looks very different in color to me. On my monitor it looks very tan and the black areas look bronze. The rest of the wave 2 dukes look fine on my monitor but this one looks like a completely different color scheme. Kinda a shame I liked this scheme with the bronze details better then either of the others. LOL

I agree, to me this figure looks tan with bronze details. Maybe the guy used a super flash on his camera?

i think this would make a fairly awesome GP though…

I would buy the crap out of a tan + bronze repaint of that figure if they did make one though.

yeah it is kinda dumb they went gray instead of tan. Tan would have been a much more traditional repaint color. That way you have your jungle duke and then your desert duke.


Anyway, I went back to the store that I cleaned all of the wave 2 off of the peg two weeks ago. Last week they did not get another order and even removed the peg. This week they got a new case of wave 1 and put them on the transformer peg. The distribution is more then wacky on these. I am wondering if wave 2 is ever going to actually officially exist or if these are just some finished prototypes that got a short run on accident and are leaking into the market by accident.

I asked Daryl DePriest at Toy Fair if Wave 3 was a possibility. He said nothing was planned yet but the retailers were very interested.

If they do another wave or two, I hope they change up the actual figures. Don't get me wrong. I'd buy every single Shipwreck and Storm Shadow they make just for fodder (easier said than done), but I'd like to see what they can do with some of the other key characters.

It looks VERY tan to me, but then I look at the display base and the weapons, which look brown, so I call that a trick of the light or the flash or whatever, since shouldn't those be black?

I'd even buy a different shade of green if they made it (just so i could finish out an 83-style lineup of O-13 figures in their apporipriate colors.

Well, given the restrictions of the existing waves: no new parts, minimal paint apps, minimal accessories, there's a lot they could do. The concept case has plenty of candidates I think people would really go for. Hit N Run, the Tele Viper, Raven's Wing, and definitely several of the ninjas. It'd be cake for them to do a proper Slice too (with his neon orange version as built in repaint potential). If there's retailer interest, I can definitely see them getting something out there. I just want them to innovate just a bit more. That said, if all they did was a new color scheme for Shipwreck and put the Trooper out in proper Officer colors, I don't think I'd complain too much.

Ok given those rules I could see:

Roadblock (1st 25th version with just his gun & maybe a helmet in Double Blast colors and could be rerelease in Tiger Force or Modified BJ's colors (just the shirt, not the whole chest).
Hawk (General Hawk head, Kick Start body) OD green first time and maybe tan or black second run. Same guns as Duke.
Deep Six
(ROC t-shirt Hawk body, ROC Repeater head).

Baroness
(ROC Baroness in blue/black first, grey/black second). Her pistols.
Major Bludd
(25th done in blue/black ala his Sonic Fighter colors the second one colored like his 93-94 figure). Pistol, rifle, & helmet.
Cobra Eel
(ROC Eel in Blue/Black, Grey/Black second term). Fins, webgear, & speargun

I definitely like the idea of getting Slice. Harlie's got some great ideas, too.

Most people just consider the Red Ninja in the first Retaliation ninja pack as Slice....
