Just got back from the theatre.
overall it was a great movie!
much better than ROC.

one thing that struck me, early in the movie Lady Jaye has on MARPAT, Roadblock has on Multicam, and Flint has on ACUs reminding me that the Joe team has the "most librral uniformpolicy"

plus i think the name Abernathy was on the wall of one of the hideouts

i liked Firefly, but the charachter deviated far from what i always thought of how Firefly acted

overall better than ROC. and i plan to own it on DVD.
like ROC, it will never replace the comic cannon for me, but i can still enjoy the new interpretation

Well at least here at Fort Knox.
The post theatre is offering a free early showing on the 23rd. I plan to drag the wife to it.

Cool! Wonder if Carson is doing something similar?

I remember when we were deployed the first time- we got to see Blackhawk down about a week before the US release.

Fort Knox does regular advance screening. I have seen posters for:
Red Dawn
Trouble with the curve
Jack and the giant
And this weekend is Olympus has fallen.

Pretty regular here at Knox

Army...gettin' all pampered with an advanced screening of movies.

Marines would wait a month after release to see the film, coz we can hack it like that.

I know right?!

Of course our softness and the "tougher than the Army" Marines are only overshadowed by the magnificence of our Air Forces.
Aim High! Flexibility is the key to air superiority!

You do mean the Civilian Military, we do(did) love working our 9 to 5 shifts. I remember when Independence Day came out they showed it continually on the 4th. We had it same day as stateside (well about 13 hrs earlier).

Did not like it.

I am so conflicted, I mean the action was good and the Rock was good - but they went so many places that I was not happy with. So many key things were rushed through in about 2 minutes.

Well, it looks like the three-quel is a "go."

I guess all you have to do is make your budget back and some change over opening weekend.

I think that Firefly as written would have made a perfect Major Bludd, and while I loved Stevenson in the role, I kinda hated the gimmick they gave him.

He also has the best line in the movie, hands down.

I think that Flint had no character development at all. I couldn't have cared less if he lived or died.

But then, the 85-86 cartoon changed the focus away from D&S and to F&LJ, so this isn't entirely unexpected.

All in all I left with a huge feeling if disappointment - which was sad given that they really tried to make this work, and it seems to be so well received by critics and viewers.
